Cam Adair Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 (edited) Hey everyone!Welcome to the Daily Journals section. Journaling is one of the most powerful tools for your recovery, it will help you process your emotions and clarify your thinking. It will help you reflect on what's most important to you."All I can say is that making this daily journal has had a huge impact. It's become an accountability habit.” - ors_tyrael"The journal process is definitely powerful.” - Caged Bliss"I'm also very thankful that I found this community. Since I started with that journal I'm feeling more responsible for my life." - TomHere are a few guidelines:Make it a daily habit. You don't have to write a lot, but posting daily will become a foundational habit for you to build your life upon. Daily journaling helps to build positive momentum in your life.Consistency is more important than quantity. You don't have to write a novel every time, a paragraph is more than enough! You get what you give. Getting involved in the community by reading others journals and sharing any thoughts or feedback will encourage others to read and interact with yours. I recommend to pick three journals and reply to those. Game Quitters is a community. Participate and get involved. It's not just about you. "By far the best thing I've done is getting active in this forum." - Tom"I want to thank All of you guys before getting back to my school life. Game Quitters has been an indescribable help for me the past year. Having a forum where I can come together with likeminded and oriented people helps me to keep a direction in my life that I want. Thank You!" - Spinips"I've always thought I was alone in this, and now I know I'm not. And that motivates me to finally move on from gaming and succeed in life instead." - Mark"Thanks, GameQuitters, for being a safe, transformational space.""I didn't realize how much I needed the community. If you weren't here, I'd be back to my old tricks. Literally the act of writing and sharing here prevents me from gaming. It's like the last line of defense."Below you will find a few templates from members who have come before you. As you can see, many members like to keep a gratitude list (highly recommended) and a tab of their daily habits. Feel free to adapt any of these templates to your own liking.via @SpiNips:Hello! Mad Pharmacist Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Like I said once before, I'll take the Alex formula (modified obviously) and try it in my own journal!
SuperSaiyanGod Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 It helped me get consistency when I realised that neither quantity nor quality matters when writing the journal. It doesn't need to be a page long every time, it doesn't need to follow any template, it doesn't need to be forced in any way. I just write what comes to mind, and the only thing I do is give titles to the paragraphs after I finish writing, so as to help me navigate through it when I read it later. And so, sometimes I write a few words, sometimes ten paragraphs, and that way I never have to force myself and by now it's become a very pleasant habit for me. I don't even write every day, sometimes I forget about it for a few days when I'm focused on, you know, life. Other times I scribble notes on receipts and tram tickets several times a day, because I have to much to write that day and I don't want to forget it.On the other hand, I don't find interaction with others in my thread useful or desirable. When I want advice, I just ask for it - otherwise I just leave it there for everyone to read, maybe it helps someone who reads it, but I write it mostly for myself. I almost never read anyone else's journals, and I don't even know what's going on on the rest of the forums most of the time. Usually when I want discussion, I go to r/stopgaming.
Mad Pharmacist Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Via Mad Pharmacist (Use it modified for yourself!):I solemnly swear that I’m up to good. The Journal of Mad Pharmacist gives special thanks to our companions:X posts means I'm engaging X$ in my recovery if I relapse. Moe Smith Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Hey everyone, I'm new here as of today. I've never thought about adding journals to an online section before, but hopefully that works well! Thanks for all the great different types of journal entries you've posted. I'll likely Frankenstein them together to form my own version. I'm starting to get excited... I think. Hard to tell through the gaming fog, but I'm going to do it!
Lea Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 @Cam Adair I have another idea for a diary template. Here is one that I come up with: Day # (Month# Date#, Year#) How Are You Feeling? (Say how you are feeling about the day) What Did You Do? 1. … 2. … 3. … Highs (H) and Lows (L) - … - … - … What Can You Do Better Tomorrow? (Say what can you do better tomorrow. In other words, what would you like to improve on.) 3
