@BooksandTrees Maybe another week or two. I'm starting to feel like I can sleep later and get up earlier.

Day 168 NP 131 Np 121 Med 107 NF 7

Positive post: I saw two clients, I did my morning routine and I colored.

I got my manga coloring book today. It's a nice book. I think I might photocopy some pages so I can color them with markers. After trying both I think I like markers more than pencils. It's nice to not have to deal with sharpening and throwing out shavings. My sleep really limits my free time now. I'm probably going to have to cut back on TV so I can make time for evening meditation. I'm trying out a Hulu subscription. I guess Netflix just hasn't been cutting it for me and I've wanted to watch Naruto for a while. I'm on a trial for Hulu. I might switch to VRV after it runs out and just watch anime. I realize I like anime because there isn't any swearing in it usually. I heard there aren't swear words in Japanese. So much TV has nudity and swearing which I prefer not to see. I like it to be more christian like.

I smiled at trollhunters, good show.

I accomplished learning how to make a bird trap

I am grateful for my life, what I do have, sunlight, birds, trees, animals, shadows, Naruto, art, hope and love.

God bless

Erik

Glad you found new shows. Some anime has lots of fan service so be careful watching. Tons of porn triggers. That's great you got ther coloring books. I might want to do that. I remember coloring dragonball z books with custom battle armor and loved it. I hope you enjoy meditation again.

Good to see that you are doing well. That manga coloring book sounds wonderful. Haha, yeah, the pencils can be quite annoying at times, now that I think about it I do not believe I've ever used markers to color something. It might be worth a try sometime. This is the main thing I do not like about these services these days as they are limiting in what they offer. On the other hand, if you know that one will work well for you, that is great. There is some quite dark anime with profanity, but it is nowhere near as common as it is in tv shows.

@BooksandTrees Thank you for your kind words and support. I've definitely run into porn, swearing and gaming triggers with shows. Most shows even require a little bit of just accepting that they're going to swear a little unfortunately. Ironically I don't like Christian genre stuff because it's too tearjerking.  I do like meditation. It's like a necessity for me almost. Although I've only been doing 10 minutes a day down from 30 lately.

@Marek I agree with your assessment of anime. It is generally less full of swearing. Markers are legit except for two caveats. They get on your hands and they bleed through the paper you're using. So all your marker drawings become one sided which doesn't work well in sketchbooks or coloring books. That's why I might scan my coloring book for marker coloring. What anime or shows are you watching?

Day 169 NP 132 Np 122 Med 108 NF 8

Positive post: I'm feeling much better today, I worked out and did yoga.

Feeling good after doing yoga. I'm planning to tell my mom I'll walk with her, but won't go into the little house she works at. I just don't like being in there. Erik discomfort stuff. I listened to a GQ podcast that said to reward yourself throughout the day for accomplishing tasks. So I'm giving myself hugs when I finish 7 yoga poses of at least 30 seconds each pose. As well as for when I finish a 10 minute drawing tutorial. Drawing has really been a struggle lately. I even wonder about continuing it or not. But it's kind of a nice hobby and I've been doing it for a while now so maybe I'll be able to keep on going with it. I did 20 sit-ups on a ball today. That's my best ever so that's fun. I feel much better today. Yesterday I was feeling kind of down. Maybe it was something I watched? I don't know. I'm trying to stick to watching comedies. I feel like they have a much lower chance of making me depressed or upset. I think they might be what's best for me. Anime comedies are great I'll look for more of them.

I smiled at the sun.

I accomplished eating breakfast and drinking lots of water.

I am grateful for food, kindness of others, water, sunshine, fresh air, birds, planes, automobiles, my supervisor, my coworkers and boss.

God bless

Erik

Sometimes you will just feel down. I think it's impossible to chase happiness every day. I thought gaming would make me happy every day and it didn't. Then porn, then social media, then YouTube, etc. Happiness is such a small portion of the day. I kind of just appreciate existing now and when I am happy I appreciate it more and put less pressure on sustaining it out of fear.

I found meditation to be a great, helpful habit. In fairness, it is the only habit that I have a perfect streak going. But I would say that the best way to use it is to not stress about it at all. I love to structure my routines and habits and make them as perfect as possible. However, funnily enough, for meditation to work well for me, it has to be the exact opposite. Just do it whenever and for whatever long. Some days it is just a few minutes of focused breathing when I am walking outside, and sometimes an hour-long session of perfect relaxation. From past experience, I found that the less I stress about it, the more I tend to meditate, haha.

Well, everything has its pros and cons. I believe that there are bulletproof sketchbooks with thicker paper made directly for markers, you might want to look into that. I had a look, and there are some on amazon which should work quite well. They are more expensive than regular ones, but that might be a good trade-off for the convenience 🤔. I am currently watching Initial D, which is an older anime about street racing. I think you might like it, it is mostly chill and funny at times, but it has excellent hype scenes with even better music.

"There is no happiness without sadness," a controversial quote, but I like one side of it. We are much better at detecting change compared to anything constant. In the same sense, if you feel down one day, the easier it is to feel much better the next 🙂. Comedies are great. Some of my favorite anime ones are: One Punch Man, Konosuba & No Game No Life (this one is Ecchi and related to games so beware, but it's hilarious, and there is a lot of mastermind strategy is involved)

Ah, you draw too? Sorry, I haven't really read your journal from the beginning, but this sounds awesome. What kind of drawings do you draw? I usually draw people, especially cartoon/anime girls.

True, comedies are gold. Even though they are not my most favorite kind of shows, they are fun to watch. What kind of animes do you watch?

@BooksandTrees Yeah happiness comes and goes. I do try to have as peaceful a day as possible, but that's about all I can do.

@Marek To meditate I just need to set a time and stick to it until it's a habit. One punch man was great. I'll checkout konosuba once I get on VRV and I probably won't watch no game no life because of the gaming. Checkout Saiki K if you want to see a good comedy anime on Netflix. Maybe I'll see how initial D is. I'm kind of breaking from art right now. I could probably keep coloring though that doesn't seem to be an issue. I just got really self-critical about it for a while and didn't feel like drawing anymore. Life happens.

@Lea It's okay if you haven't read the whole thing it's really quite long. Although you can see some drawings posted in the recent tabs. I usually draw anime people. I like drawing anime girls too. It's all about the big eyes. I'm watching Maid Sama, My Hero Academia and was looking to get back into Attack on Titan. Trying out various comedies on Hulu right now. Are you watching anything lately?

@Erik2.0 Thanks for the recommendation. That one looks great. I will try it once I finish Initial D. As you said, life happens; no point into forcing yourself into hobbies you don't enjoy at the time, take a break and you can come back to it later. Now that I finished my second coloring, I do not feel like starting another; moreover, I want to get back to the puzzle and finish it soon.

Day 171 NP 134 Np 124 Med 110 NF 10

Positive post: I walked, I meditated and I drew.

I've been going for walks more regularly lately. It's kind of hot out which makes things more complicated. I tend to get overheated easily. I realized today that black is probably not the best color hat in the heat. Still it's nice to get out and see some nature. I drew some today. Man, I'm feeling really lethargic about posting lately. I wonder if it's the tv or the heat or what. Maybe I'll try to read more. I'm not looking forward to telling my housemate I don't want to eat her food or spending time with my dad on the phone. But, I'll do my best. They're things I have to do I suppose. My dad does pay for some of my health insurance. Meditating always makes me feel better. I'm glad I have consistent things in my life that are good for me. It's a struggle sometimes. I do the best I can to keep going forward it's hard sometimes is all.

I smiled at a random person

I accomplished coloring

I am grateful for eggs, bacon, cheese, toast, cream cheese, whole wheat, the sun, moon, stars and universe.

@Marek For sure. I've never taken an interest to big puzzles. I see they take a long time and laminating them after seems like a process. Thats good you're into them. Seems like a healthy use of time.

God bless

Erik

It is something I have never done before either. I have not put enough time into it that I got frustrated, but I feel like it is inevitable though I want to finish it just to prove to myself that I can.

What's the weather like where you live? Presumably not the ideal color haha. I usually wear full black when I run, but luckily it is not too hot here, so it's okay even in the sun, especially in the morning. Don't worry man. It can be both, or you just need to change things up. Reading is great. In these last few weeks, I have felt that I get a lot more satisfaction from reading compared to other forms of entertainment.

I've been lethargic as well. I haven't really wanted to post recently. I feel down and just not really motivated. My posts are not interesting. Maybe we're all experiencing something. I noticed a lot of the regulars have been posting less over the past 2 weeks. Are you doing 10 or 30 mins of meditation?

Day 172 NP 135 Np 125 Med 111 NF 11

Positive post: I went for a walk, I colored and drew.

It's 2:30pm and I spent all day so far not doing any screen time. It feels better and I'm not so zoned out feeling. I mostly just colored stuff from my coloring book for a while. Longer than usual. Maybe I could read like Marek was saying. That might be a good way to get some healthy intellectual stimulation. I'm going to try to time my tv watching to keep it under two hours today and then use the rest of the day to read. I think that'll be good for me. I'm drawing again. Doing a tutorial in the morning. I kind of enjoy coloring more right now. I like that sort of therapeutic feeling I get when I just zone out and color in big chunks of stuff. I like the colored pencils a lot. They don't make squeaky noises like the markers. The Prismacolors go on soft and look good too. It's just as I color and use up the materials. I'm like, uh o, doing this often might cost some money. Photocopying the coloring book is possible it'll just take some trouble to make it happen. There are these gray areas near the spine of the book that makes the printer use up a bunch of ink because it's printing in that area all gray when you photocopy it. I may just be stuck using a coloring book and pencils as is without any tricks to save money. Hmm. To be continued. I could cut apart the coloring book and then photocopy the pages so I could keep coloring it forever. That's probably the best option for me. I don't want to pay for new coloring books and pencils.

Speaking of which I found this site called wish.com. It looks kind of shady. But this 10 year old kid told me he bought stuff off it and it was legit. It's super cheap brand name stuff. I was thinking about getting colored pencils, but the site looks so shady I don't want them having my cc info.

Things aren't really going well with my dad. He's unaware, but I can't really deal with him. He's always making faces and this quacking sound that bother me. I could ask him to stop, but I dunno the vibe is no good either. I just feel like I'm babysitting a misbehaving child whose behavior doesn't improve from day to day when I talk to him. It's draining and upsetting. I'm not going to try to communicate with him much at all for the time being.

Things are still good with my mom which is nice. We go on walks. She talks about buying a small house for us to live in without any tenants. That'd be nice. No more housemates. Ahh. I hope things get better with my sleep. I feel like I'm oversleeping now. I just want to sleep less and not feel tired. I'm trying to lower my workouts to three days a week because I've just been feeling drained. I figure I might not feel so tired if I worked out less days.

@BooksandTrees Yeah I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the change in seasons making everyone tired? It would make sense because we're shifting to a warmer time so people kind of slow down.

@Marek Good idea with the reading. I'll see about reading a little more. The only book I feel comfortable reading are self help books. So it isn't as interesting as fiction books. I could probably still increase my time spent on them though. Solve that giant puzzle man you got this.

I smiled at my mom

I accomplished walking

I am grateful for working out, weight lifting, bodyweight exercise, eggs, plates, leaves, berries, fruit, cookies, paper, and desk

God bless

@Erik2.0 Maybe you can find colouring pictures online that you could just print out? 🤔 I have not thought about it before because I do not have a printer, but I am sure there should be some. Wish is definitely on the shady side. I have never bought stuff from there, but I have seen way too many unboxing videos from wish. The items are usually complete trash or at least inferior quality. I would probably stick to Amazon/eBay.

Have you read Why We Sleep? It is kind of a self-help book I would say. It talks about the importance of sleep and virtually everything around it. It is well written and scientific; I would say that it helped me a decent amount when I was struggling with my sleep schedule.

@Marek Online pics is a good idea. Thanks for your review on wish I'll stay away. I'll see if I can get why we sleep through the library. I finished a book called quiet your mind and get to sleep that was kind of a nice read.

Day 173 NP 136 Np 126 Med 112 NF 12

Positive post: I worked, colored and worked out.

My workout went well today. Although for some reason my push ups went from 30 to 10 and now back to 20. So I guess it's good they're going back up, but I don't understand why they went down and back up like that. My dumbbell chest press is doing good, but since I'm at home I'll be doing the max weight on my dumbbells soon so I guess I'll just go for a lot of reps because I can't increase the weight anymore. I'm going to spend some time looking for houses on zillow as we might move to a smaller house so my mom and I can live without renting to people. I would like that very much I think. I don't much care for living with other people. Although my mom's great. I love her.

I'm watching comedy shows and kids shows lately. The sort of light level that they engage you at is probably what makes it possible for me to watch. Anything dark or violent I can't seem to handle. Although I enjoy them more for the short time I'm able to watch. It's okay. I'm watching some Futurama and the office. Futurama are mostly reruns, I'm not totally jazzed about it so I might look for something else if I get totally done with it.

I colored a good bit with markers today. Maybe an hour or so. Drawings tend to look nicer with less colors rather than rainbow style. I'm listening to the 2019 GQ podcasts now. The old ones were my favorites. I enjoyed those a lot. The new ones with James Good I don't like as much. It's kind of disheartening knowing he quit working at GQ recently although I don't know what he's up to now. I hope he's doing well.

Work is just work. It's the best when I'm in a good mood and I'm able to do my job peacefully. Avoiding getting sucked into arguments with clients that never end. I don't like arguing. But that means I have to just sit quietly while my clients say things that I disagree with. Arguing only means I have to listen to them say disagreeable things at a higher volume for longer. But being in a good mood is what helps me stay quiet. That's my strength. Holding my peace. Gotta do it.

I smiled at some kids show (forgot name).

I accomplished finishing work.

I am grateful for GQ, colored pencils, markers, coloring books, photcopiers, my printer, my mom, walks, working out, Thai curry, and love.

God bless

Day 174 NP 137 Np 127 Med 113 NF 13

Positive post: I walked 10.8k steps, I worked and I ate my curry.

My curry is pretty good. It's nice to eat home cooked food even if I don't try to much to cook a lot of dishes. I went on a long walk. Because I'm only working out three days a week it makes me want to do more on the walking and stretching side of things with my extra time and energy. Work's going well. I'm doing a lot of hours now. I've just got to keep up with clients needs so we can have something to do together. My back has been hurting as I spend a lot more time sitting on my desk chair instead of the couch because the girls are in the living room sometimes. I'm going to see if I can get a better desk chair at Costco. I don't feel comfortable sitting in this chair without leaning my arms on the desk for support. I guess it's a weird chair or my body doesn't work with it....or most chairs it seems. Hope I find a better one because my back does ache.

I smiled on my walk

I accomplished walking far

I am grateful for my job, my walk, the holy trinity, my faith, kindness, compassion, mercy, forgiveness, victory, long-suffering, and blessings of the Holy Spirit.

I've never made curry before and always wanted to try. My old roommate used to make good curry, but whenever I asked for the recipe he'd just say it's easy and do it myself and then lock himself in his room all day and play video games. Kind of put me off lol.

@BooksandTrees That's a funny story. Sorry your roommate didn't teach you. Some people aren't the teaching type. I'd teach you how to make the curry though I'm not that legit at cooking compared to like youtube. It's a Thai curry.

Day 175 NP 138 Np 128 Med 114 NF 14

Positive post: I finished work, I ate my own food for the most part, and I watched some of The Flash season 6 now on Netflix yeah.

Well finishing work was nice. I have this coworker who keeps calling me to tell me what he's doing and give me updates that I mostly don't need. I just want to ignore his calls so I have more time in the day where I don't have to think about work. Ahh peace. I honestly might start ignoring his calls. God help me. I ate a small bite of my housemates chicken. I'll try to keep it as minimal as possible because I don't like interacting with them too much. I made rice to share with them so I guess it was okay they shared a little with me. I love brown rice. I look forward to getting more soon.

The Flash season six is out on Netflix so I'm watching that. It's nice to see Barry Allen and the gang again. Watching S6 makes me think about rewatching S1-6 after I finish 6. A lot of my clients have done as much so I kind of want to do it too. It's a pretty good show. I love how they're so positive about their self-esteem. Always building each other up. I like superheroes although I can't read the comics it's nice to be able to watch one of the shows on them. Supergirl is great too.

I smiled at the Flash.

I accomplished making rice.

I am grateful for rice, my coloring book, my mom, quiet dogs, nice animals, nice people, god, coloring utensils, photocopier, and the flash.

God bless

Day 176 NP 139 Np 129 Med 115 NF 15

Positive post: I went for a walk, I worked and I colored.

Walking feels good. I shadow boxed a little, although I'm paranoid of doing that. My ankle seems to be recovering. I think it got a little bruised from trying to run. I'm happy to just walk. There's a crazy intersection that's super dangerous to cross. So I'm unfortunately not going to cross and get to walk in those neighborhoods anymore unless I want to drive across the intersection. Work has been tough lately. I'm trying to breathe through it and bear with everyone as best I can. But it seems like it's just a tough time for everyone me and my clients. We're all a little tired or cranky. Hopefully that gets better. I've been consistently making all my own food since my mom is always working now. It's kind of nice to be self reliant in this way. Maybe I would like moving out after all. I saw a decent looking place on craigslist today I might go check out.

Coloring has been cool. It takes up a lot of time. Just one of these pieces is like 30 minutes to an hour of coloring. It's really nice how it takes a while and I can do it whenever I'm at my desk. I haven't been drawing as much though I do it once in a while.

I smiled at myself.

I accomplished finishing the workday.

I am grateful for bananas, peanut butter, whole wheat bread, organic milk, chicken, bok choi, brown rice, filtered water, moderate conveniences and clean air.

God bless

Erik

Dude, those are gorgeous. What are you coloring these with? Coloring seems fun and relaxing.

Try doing more around the house for yourself over the next few weeks and see if you keep enjoying the responsibility. If you become self reliant then the apartment could make more sense.

Thanks for the reminder! I used to watch flash a while ago, but I have not caughtt up to all of season 6 episodes. It is pretty chill show. They did a splendid job on this one, I watched some episodes of "The Legends" too, but I did not like it as much.

I had the same problem when I started running. Stretching, ice and Voltarol helped me recover pretty quickly. I had to work more on my feet position when it was in contact in the ground. I think I got hurt running downhill with a heavy step landing on my heel. The lockdown and is slowly getting to everyone. That will improve for sure with some more time. Great job on the coloring. It looks awesome!

@BooksandTrees Thank you so much. I've been enjoying this manga coloring book a lot lately. I'm coloring using Ohuhu markers I got off Amazon. They look pretty good for not being copics. Haha. Yes becoming self reliant might be nice. It's weird not having my mom around all the time since she works now.

@Marek Yes The Flash is a pretty good show I must say. Something about it makes me want to keep watching. I finished what's on Netflix for The Legends. It wasn't as great as Flash and Supergirl imho but still pretty good.

Thank you! Coloring has been a nice way to use my time without any electronics lately. I'm probably just going to walk instead of run, but it sounds like you got your running down now. I think in another month they'll let us go back to work even though it's not exactly safe. I'll see if my clients want to start having sessions in person again. Maybe we'll wear masks during session, Idk.

Positive post: Made it through the night without masturbating, colored and watched tv.

I wouldn't normally think to put watching tv as a positive. But, it's been kind of nice lately to watch tv. I wish I could get more couch time as it makes my back stop hurting. Sitting in this desk chair has been making my back ache. But I don't think getting a new chair will do anything. I demo'd some at Office Depot and my back still hurt even after trying the 350$ chair out. Maybe I could somehow get a recliner to sit at my desk with, haha. Not really.

Last night was hard to not masturbate. I'm going to continue avoiding the soulmate meditation I Was doing. That seems to be my big trigger for masturbation. I was trying it out again and it triggered me again sure enough. So I'll avoid that. Coloring like I said to Marek has been going well. Thanks @Marek for giving me the idea when you posted your coloring book earlier, @BooksandTrees and @Icandothis for encouraging me to get a coloring book.

Today's a six hour work day so I'm stuck on my chair for a while. Gonna do my best to make it comfortable as possible for myself. I hope all goes well with my clients.

I smiled at life.

I accomplished eating an orange.

I am grateful for oranges, orangutans, fun, philanthropy, filibusters, Dwight shrewt, Jim, pam, Michael, Cisco, Barry Allen, Caitlyn, Iris, and Joe West.

God bless

Glad you're enjoying the books. I might try those markers. Good job avoiding the masturbation. I've been failing at that this week with 2 or 3 times,  but it's not 3 to 5 times a day like 2 months ago.

@BooksandTrees Hey, progress not perfection. At least you're seeing improvement, that's good. Yeah if you want to try these markers I think I got like 80 for $40. They have various options I got the normal ones instead of the more expensive brush ones. I guess it was worth it to get more colors. I think either way you'd be fine.

Positive post: I colored, I did my morning routine and worked out.

Coloring has been very nice. I do it while I'm on the phone with clients or just in my spare time to do something that I feel is good for me. I did my morning routine today which was harder than usual for some reason. Maybe I was tired from my workout yesterday, I don't know. I did walk outside and it was hot while I wore black sweatpants. I was going to watch Vikings today, but realized too late that if you cancel your Hulu membership during trial it will remove your trial as well. I might reactivate, but I'm not sure if I even want to continue with Vikings. It can tend to make me feel violent because it's such a violent show. I do like it though so we'll see. My workout yesterday was really difficult because I did it after a long hot walk carrying bamboo. Still I did my deadlift and lunges which I'm happy about. I'm lunging for one more rep this week.

I smiled at Netflix.

I accomplished finishing my morning routine.

I am grateful for breakfast, Hulu, Netflix, life, god, christianity, norse myth, buddhism, mindfulness books, and sleep.

God bless

Erik

@Erik2.0 Happy to see you enjoying the coloring so much. Reading your posts makes me want to go color another picture. But I am not going back to it before I do the puzzle haha. I finally made some progress on it, and I think I found a way that should help me solve it faster. That is a bit stressful as well because I need to figure out a way what to do with it once I finish it, hmm. I am hoping that just a regular A3 picture frame would be able to hold it without the messy gluing process. Good job on the workout and routine, keep it up!
