Day 12

Got some studying done through pomodoros (was a little sleep deprived so I wasn't as efficient through the very end of the day). I talked to an upper classman for an hour and got some tips for one of the exams (I need to pass this!). I've got 5 more days until my exams. I need to make every minute count. I'm going to wake up tomorrow, do headspace, read this journal entry again, and keep in mind what's at stake.

Day 13

Quick update. Was slow in the morning to go to headspace, I was feeling really anxious so I probably wasted an hour or 2 overall. After headspace I felt more centered. Overall I got around 70% done of what I wanted to today via pomodoro, but a lot of it was material I hadn't thoroughly reviewed. Got to make the most of tomorrow as well.

Day 14

Got more work done than yesterday, but I could have done more but I got a bit lazy when I saw how fast I was cruising. The trick is keeping the momentum during the middle of the day (after lunch). Also nuked some certain websites via cold turkey because they were a distraction, if you know what I mean. Hopefully I can get more done tomorrow. Got a few required things tomorrow (just 2 hr). Then two free days of studying after that...

 

Btw, I exercised today but I didn't yesterday and I feel a huge difference in energy. I also notice how easy it is to be focused. It's like I have super powers. This is amazing. If this is what not playing video games is like, fuck video games and fuck porn. It was so hard to keep pomodoros when I have an urge to play video games between my pomodoros (thus violating the whole point of pomodoros). Now that it's no longer an option, it's so much easier. Wow, where has Cam been all my life.

Day 15.

Had to spend a couple hours that were required but I managed to study more than yesterday via pomodoros. Two more days until my first exam, then another exam after that. After my morning Wed exam, I have to study hard for the exam tomorrow (Need to pass this!).

 

Gotta wake up, headspace and exercise tomorrow morning to start the day off right. Will come back to this post in the morning after headspace.

Day 17 (Yesterday)

Sorry for the late update, was studying the whole day and got a lot of work in (Mostly studying for second exam tomorrow)

 

Day 18

Passed my first exam! I'm glad because I didn't spend so much time studying for this one. Been studying for the second one tomorrow. I really need to pass this one! Going to study the whole day and be as efficient as possible. Really important for me to do well here.

Day 20

This was pretty much my recovery day from studying/taking the exams yesterday. Didn't do too much work since it's after the exams but I plan on studying the material in advance tomorrow. I just cleaned my apartment since I've neglected to do that daily. Dozed off during Headspace since I was so tired. Hopefully I can recover tomorrow.

Ugh I got almost nothing done today..just a few hours of studying, still recovering from sleep deprivation but I surfed the internet too much. I used cold turkey to block it so hopefully that will help. I want to regain the momentum I had when I was studying for my exams. I need to keep it up!

Day 24

 

I PASSED MY SECOND EXAM! YESSSS. Major thanks to Cam everyone else here supporting me all the way. I know now what kind of schedule and discipline I need. It's just a matter of actually keeping it all when you don't have some kind of tremendous pressure that is actually keeping you accountable. My plan tomorrow is to do headspace in the morning and maybe exercise if I can (still recovering from my sleep deprivation + class is super early). My plan is to also continue my momentum of studying with pomodoro and to STOP browsing the internet before actually starting my day.

I feel like when you play video games/excessively surf the internet/etc you stop caring about the death/degeneration of yourself (what you're missing out on), and to climb out of the metaphorical well, you need that primal sense of fear/anxiety to lift you out. Anxiety is not a negative thing, you just need the right amount to get you going. For me, it seems like I might be on the low end. Maybe it'll take a while until my physiology starts going back to normal after playing video games for pretty much my whole life?

Day 25

 

Ugh, I couldn't do headspace in the morning and I screwed up my morning. I just get too distracted. My plan is to go straight to headspace without even thinking of anything. That seems to be the only way to get my day going. Other than that, got some work done but not as much since I wasn't as focused. Let's see how tomorrow goes!

Yeah, I also realized how much habit plays into our routine.

Day 28.

I've made a bad habit of checking the internet/reddit/emails with my phone since I've banned reddit on my PC. This stalls my headspace and then stalls/cancels my exercise because I get too hungry. So tomorrow I'm going to just not even pick up my phone until:

 

1. Done headspace

2. Done exercise

 

I got only 2 hr worth of pomodoro done today. I need to up it back to 6-7 hours when there was a fire under my butt.
