  1. @Redmark Several of the people I stay in contact here as well as myself have found we all tend to easily get sucked into sedentary activities as we find and discuss what we have found to help us to binge less often. Very soon I plan to have Wifi connected only one day per week once I finish transcribing & deleting my useful internet bookmark topics to paper. I really should just delete the lot of it and figure things out again as I go along but I have this big paper binder already so gracefully sorted with dividers helping me to file away information I deem pertinent as meticulously as possible. Really as long as its not something I am always looking at it is a step in the right direction. I think I will later transcribe this binder of topics onto spreadsheets. Typing 80 words per minute when I really get to work so it wont be a bad time sink. I have looked at game-play videos since after the 90 day detox and it's not a good place for me to be. My game addicted Dad is always playing around me so I really I survive off of affirmations in my head like "Hey look at that, what a waste of time" or "Wow is he going to sit there and play games all day?" Addiction relapse can be frustrating but be proud that you got right back with the detox plan - nice going!!
  2. A fine question. I was quite a socially awkward myself during the gaming years - still a long way to go but I have noticed after staying away from porn and games that I have become very comfortable talking to people one on one while dealing with people who knew the old me is very awkward still. I think expanding the social activities will come naturally as we progress and feel more comfortable in our own skin. I will be looking for social activities somewhere that no one knows me and who knows maybe after that awhile I will be fine socializing with people who knew me as an awkward guy. I am thinking that doing volunteer work to get contacts for my resume is my first place to start! Great question @Redmark you got my noggin thinking a little.

Yeah the Discord live chat aspect does make it rather simple to get attached to. Useful platform to attract people interested to stop gaming but usefulness really ends there and again it is chat so it's rather a frequent thing there to be attaching your energy to trolls and people crying they don't know what to do .. oh and the people who are on the server and play games all the time! Good place to attract em here and get em thinking but that's all. You know .... .. there, I left the discord also. I think bots providing the discord chat with useful information is the way to make the most out of that place. 🔇
  4. That's it! @JustTom In the zone all cylinders on fire .. You know what it is ..
  5. @BooksandTrees As it turns out those curries are great adding raw corn & diced onions at the hemp hearts step 😃
  6. Consider checking out the Respawn program offered here as well. Little cost but think about that return on investment :)

  9. @dirkj3 that would be an addiction withdrawal symptom, keep them out of sight so it stays out of mind.
  10. @Perfect Tommy Congratulations on your decision to quit video games I believe it will help you achieve everything that you desire and is certainly an investment worth protecting and nurturing! We here also strive for a better life everyday - there is a lot more to be done than to sit in an old game room perspiring a cold sweat :) For your reference to help along the way here is ..A welcoming statement First move the consoles & games out of sight so it stays out of mind .. 11. Yikes! idk man sounds like enema cleanse territory followed with probiotics I have never dealt with any of it best of luck.
  12. Staying well-nourished is a lot to do with life and again, I certainly wasn't making the time to learn all of this when I was gaming every day :)
  13. @BooksandTrees @Dylan Tazzioli Really all there is to the curry dishes I make is dice up my choice of potato. Sweet potato is really tasty though sometimes russet is all I have and they do the job just fine. I add a handful of barley or serving of pre-soaked lentils along with pre-diced veggies though I never pre-dice carrots they are super quick to chop. Putting lentils in dry will change things up I can explain that separately if you would like to hear about that. Really I believe half an hour soaking is enough time for lentils to benefit they will double in size but I start soaking one meal in advance so it is not forgotten. I suppose it should be said I soak in filtered water otherwise they absorb fluoride or whatever else is in the tap water supply. Add all of that with 1-1/4 cup water to cook in a medium saucepan covered on low heat for 10mins, uncover and turn it up to medium heat about 5mins until it looks how I want to eat it, I don't like it soupy so I let it boil until I hear it sizzle. Then I usually add a generous pour of garlic powder and two pinches of salt, sometimes a generous bit of nutritional yeast really good flavor, sometimes ground turmeric & black pepper, sometimes curry powder. You don't want to add so much your food gets really dry though you can add some water to hydrate so whateves. Then finally I add a bit of hemp hearts, stir, add a final sprinkle of salt on top, sometimes mustard & ground black pepper, sometimes Sriracha or Tabasco sauce if I want a kick, sometimes I mash up half an avacado & squeeze half a lime when I stir in hemp hearts. A lot of options there but when you know what you want this is an incredibly simple one-pot curry you can enjoy with cheap, affordable whole food ingredients that have a great shelf life, enjoy! 🌶️
  14. I used to have acid reflux bad. What is the serious stomach condition?
  15. @JustTom exactly - I am here using music identifiers trying to find the source! that music is well-embellished and crazy good. Alas, it is time to walk away, break bread, and do something more active!
  16. Dopamine Sensitivity & Depression. Gamequitters viewing this either take it or leave it this is for my own reference! ☢️

and thank you for mentioning this. I currently have been using xflux to automatically reduce blue light once the sun has set yet having just found Redshift in the Arch repos I am interested to try it out! So many ways to maximize productivity with FOSS on Linux. My top 3 productivity programs right now is i3-gaps window manager, Calcurse CLI organizer, and Ranger the CLI file manager! CLI apps are really great overall from trimming down time loading the programs to doing faster work of things with a keyboard rather than a mouse. Vim is also really noteworthy for how often I use it to quickly edit configuration files without waiting on a GUI program to load.
  20. Nice list, a fantastic list of goals, keep it growing! Go easy on yourself at the same time - we are all worthy to have happiness in our lives before fulfilling wants & needs even. This stood out to me because the self-esteem workbook I have been using by Glenn Schiraldi hammers down on keeping core worth separate from external events/performance, things that can fall out of our control. Doing so will help keep us off of emotional roller coasters while helping us learn to be happy and content at our resilient, unchanging core self. Having the goals listed in front of you is still absolute gold we can keep reading them and use in daily affirmations / meditations! Thanks for sharing Matt, we sure are accomplishing a lot without playing those darned games!
  21. First, congrats on your decision to move to Thailand @James Good!! Have you been spending time learning the dominant Thai language? Commonly used words are a must! Best of luck integrating and living the Thai life. This Chrome browser extension linked here is really helping me to get in, watch my video, and get out! It will remove the entire right-hand suggested videos section. If you do not have Chrome try and find something similar. Staying off of the main Youtube site has helped also. At this link here at the bottom of the page you can click an export subscriptions button to save to an OPML file. This file can be imported to most RSS readers. To me this is most ideal for reducing the amount of time catching up on video content if you would be interested to crunch down the internet surfing to say one day a week. I personally plan to start having my Wifi disconnected throughout the week! I also hear from this raw vegan Fruitarian Youtuber that I follow there is a LOT of fresh, delicious fruit in Thailand be sure to check those out! Happy living, Neil
  22. That fearless sparrow that keeps on calling his people is used to me, we whistle back and forth at each other as I run up and down my road.
  23. Day 123. Affirmations have been moved to the forefront of my big paper journal because beginning with thought, we create what we desire in our lives. Simply having self-affirmations written where it can remind you of the what, how, & why something is important to you seems to be a great help in training a lazy, undisciplined mind. I am .. Positivity, Well, Content, Peaceful, Happy, Prosperous, Abundant .. I will use Gamequitters to .. Build an amazing body, Get that new job, Learn new languages, Complete a marathon .. I will use Nofap to .. Stay out of debt, Complete a triathlon, Complete an ultra-marathon .. I will .. Develop social skills, Ask how others are doing, Ask what others have been up to, Give people a way to make contact with me .. I will go to sleep earlier ✌️
