  1. Thanks! This time journaling made a big difference in how I track my progress. I already tried it before but I'm gonna try it again. A lot of times she isn't open to criticism, but in reality the only thing I can do is do my best to expose the message in the most constructive way possible. Thanks for the advice!
  2. I invite you for a reflection: When I decided I would quit gaming it wasn't because games were "ruining" my life. I was able to do university stuff. I was able to go to the gym (even though I skipped it many times because of gaming). I had friends that I hung out with. For sure, games were a bad way to deal with other problems in my life, but looking at my life at the time someone could say that it was "on track". But the thing is: looking a little deeper, I can see now dozens of harms that gaming too much brought into my life. I'm not a very social person. In fact, I have a lot of self esteem problems when it comes to socializing. It screwed up my posture. I stopped reading, which is a thing I love to do. Learning how to headshot a pixel in a screen as fast as possible didn't give me any skill that I'm proud of. More than that, the time invested in gaming didn't allow me to learn some things that I wanted to learn, like playing the guitar. And the list goes on and on. But the bigger thing I realized was that I didn't want to spend any more time of my life doing the same meaninless thing over and over again. Looking back at my steam account and seeing that I spent almost an entire year of my life playing one game makes me sick (I am 26, so one year is 3,85% of my ENTIRE LIFE). What is even worse: you don't even remember this time that you spent gaming. For me that's the biggest motivation I have for staying away from games, I want to do new stuff, have different experiences. That's just a reflection, good luck @dirac!
  3. When I was trying to lose the bad habit of automatically checking social media all the time I blocked every social media website in my phone and PC and uninstalled the apps. What's interesting is that in the beginning I was always trying to unconsciously open them all the time, and after some time I stopped doing it. Personally I think blocking them was a good way to break the habits. Lately I've been opening Youtube unconsciously too, I might give it a try again. Ah, and it's very nice that you are getting into this board game job, have fun!
  4. Thanks! Sometimes the amount of information get me a little overwhelmed, but my memory is terrible so it's good to have everything written down.
  5. That's interesting @Alexanderle! To tell the truth, if I follow through my morning routine I usually don't check my phone, so the "No cellphone in the first hour" is usually accomplished. I think I'm gonna remove that and see how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion!
  6. Day 20 Yesterday was a messy day... Since I have the flexibility to work from home sometimes, I decided to solve some problems at home. Ended up not doing a lot. Accomplished my objectives for the day, practiced guitar and exercised but in reality it wasn't a really productive day. Messed up some of my morning/evening habits too. It seems like the more free time I have the easier it is to screw up the habits I'm figuring to establish. I really work better when I have a fixed routine. I'm questioning a lot my relationship with my SO. She's a great person, with a very kind heart. But like basically every person, she has personal problems: family problems, self esteem problems, and other stuff in her life. That's not an issue for me, since I have a lot of questions myself. The problem is how the tackles them. Sometimes I think she is too dependent of me, and that's contradictory, because she is a really strong woman, the kind of one that solves some "practical problems" (like work stuff, for example) really fast and efficiently. She is a natural for that kind of stuff. But when it comes to her personal problems she has a really hard time. I try to help her but she is really skeptical of having a "methodology" to get her life on track. For example: she thinks that me making my bed everyday and tracking this habit is bullshit, even though I'm tracking a lot of other habits and having pretty good results. She thinks that meditation is bullshit too. That's not a problem when you TRY it first. She is really stubborn when it comes to trying new stuff. In the end, she ends up doing the same stuff all over again and having little progress. And for me, the main problem is that in a relationship it is hard for you to look after another your partner when you are not looking after yourself. Sometimes I feel really lonely in this relationship. I feel that I give too much of myself and receive too little in exchange. I try to do things for her with an open heart, but in a relationship you kind of expect that your SO cares about you and give you support. Little things make a really good difference. The other day I bought 2 books : The Power of Habit and Atomic Habits. I'm waiting for them to be delivered. Personally I haven't read both of them and I'm looking forward to it since they have pretty good reviews, but I'm gonna lend one of them to her. Maybe she gets excited and starts applying some of that stuff to her life. It was good writing down this, time to start my day! 8. Congratulations, keep it up! I agree with @Alexanderle, there is no sense in feeling like a monster for having desire. For me, quitting porn and fapping is about "fixing" the desire I have for women. In no way the desire is going stop, I'm positive of that. On the contrary, the desire for real women is going to actually increase (I felt it!). The real question is, what you are going to do with your new "fixed" lust? It should be a motivation to go out there and meet real women. It should be a motivator to work on yourself to get the confidence to do it (everything counts, from hobbies to getting a new haircut). Don't feel guilty for having sexual desire. Use that as motivation to meet new women and have fun, that's it.
  9. That's a hard question to answer... I think the habit of pornography consumption takes a long time to go away. I don't even know how long, but it certainly takes a long time. I think the urge came simply out of habit. For example, seeing hot girls in the gym/internet can trigger these old habits and boom: one moment with not enough willpower results in a relapse. In stressful times it's even harder, but thinking about it, in the end it's all about willpower too. Well, let's try to do better next time. I'm resetting today and I'm aiming for a good streak, let's go!
  10. Day 19 Not a good day. Relapsed to fapping and porn once, so that's a reset on the streak. The worst part is that it leaves me feeling like crap afterwards. The days after I catch myself thinking "Well, I already relapsed and I'm feeling like crap. What's the matter with doing it only one more time?". Shit. I deeply regret the day this awful habit crawled into my life, but that's something I'm gonna have to deal with for the rest of my life. Looking for the bright side: I stayed 46 days clean from this plague, only relapsing once. My relation with my SO improved A LOT with this change of habits, so that's a win. A single relapse won't ruin it, it's just a number that have been resetted. Now I'm gonna get back on track and stay clean for an even longer period of time, and that's it. The worst part is that it wasn't a stressful day at all, it was a normal day. I relapsed by pure lack of willpower, and that annoys me a lot. But fuck it, the past is in the past and I'm gonna do better in this next streak, starting today. Reflecting right now, I think I gotta change my approach to cellphone usage. I can't expect different results if I'm doing the same stuff over and over again. Doesn't make sense quitting porn/artificial stimulation if I still look at women at social media or random browsing in the internet. I'm gonna have to think about something to do regarding that. 13. Yeah... I get it. I somehow didn't end up a fan of a specific sports team. On the other hand, I used to watch a lot of e-sports, and sometimes was a little bit mad with it, but it was all gone when I quitted gaming. In the end, I prefer to live my life and let them players live theirs. Thanks for the explanation!
  14. Hey @seriousjay! May I ask you how easy it was for you to let go of the "passion" you had for sports? I totally agree with you that the best way to watch sports is to be detached emotionally from it. That's something I sometimes think about because I know people that no matter the disappointment that their team gives to them (from game results to corruption scandals) can't leave this cycle of watching sports - getting disappointed - going back to watch it again.
  15. I'm having a hard time tracking them, since I'm struggling to post everyday. But for sure it's a way to challenge ourselves!
  16. Objectives for the day - Monitoring the health insurance plan problem (should be solved in the end of the day) - Start the programming course - Postponed again. My SO came to my house after work so I didn't have time to start it. - Call the dentist - Called it but she didn't answear... I guess she is on vacation. Gotta check if I have another one. - Buy yogurt and avocados - Bought the avocados. Market really crowded so I'm gonna buy the yogurt tomorrow, I guess. Gratitude journal - I'm grateful for the cool breeze that is blowing today - I'm grateful for another day where I wake up in good spirit to do my tasks - I'm grateful for having a PC where I can journal everyday - I'm grateful for having healthy lungs that let me breathe the clean air this morning - I'm grateful for being born and having the chance to live a fullfilling live
  17. Nice video! Introducing a routine that I go through each morning has helped me a lot on giving me the motivation to do "harder" things throughout the day. Congrats on the 3 days! The cravings are strong, specially in stressful moments but keep it up!
  18. Nice! Congrats on passing the exam, one more to go!
  19. Day 17 I'm failing a little in journaling in the weekends. My life when I'm with my SO gets a little less organized. It's not that she is the one to blame for that, actually it is quite the opposite. She is not a person that encourages me to keep on track with my stuff, and although it would be good for me if she was a little more motivational in this aspect, I learned that the biggest motivation comes from within. When I'm alone I gotta be able to keep myself motivated, just as when I'm surrounded by people. Period. I already did some work on being more disciplined when I'm with her, but I'm gonna make an extra effort. There is nothing really great to report from the weekend. Went to a party on Friday night and had a lot of fun. The weekend was pretty slow, watched some Netflix and a movie with my SO. Did some cooking on Sunday, so I have meals for the whole week (yay!). Today I woke up later that I wanted to. Usually I feel a little tired on Mondays, I should try going to sleep earlier every Sunday. In general, today was a good day. At night I got pretty excited practicing guitar. I got like 2 hours of practice, which for me is a pretty long time. I practiced so much that I ended up with no time/motivation to begin the programming course (pretty sleepy already). I'm gonna start it tomorrow! I was able to do a lower body workout with no problems. Social Only normal conversations. My conversations for many times are really shallow and I'm really complacent on that. 20. Hey @QWymer, thanks ! I bought a course called "Python for data-science and Machine Learning" some months ago but never started it. I actually learned a little bit of python in the past, but it was basic stuff. My goal is to learn these new libraries and dive in this data science/machine learning area since it's pretty correlated with my college/master's degree.

  23. Welcome to the forums @QWymer and congrats on the decision to change! My life changed/is changing a lot since I decided to delete and sell everything I had gaming related. That's a big decision and it for sure will have a great effect in your life in general.
  24. I think I will give it a try, thanks for the suggestion! I use some dermatology meds on a daily basis, that's a habit that I want to incorporate in my daily routine.
