I've been watching Cam's Youtube channel, and decided to make the plunge and try to be the best version of myself!

I'm currently a senior in college studying math and cognitive science.  I didn't game much in high school but got addicted to League of Legends during the summer following my freshmen year.  I moved off campus (I haven't moved since).  I felt isolated from my university community and depressed.  I procrastinated working on homework and rarely studied.  My grades suffered a bit as a result, but the worst outcome was I didn't find any work for the summer, since I spent my spare time gaming rather than trying to network or learn new skills.  This made me feel like complete shit, since the only friends I had made were all very successful both academically and professionally.  While they were interning at big name companies or doing research, I was gaming and taking one class during the summer.  I was so ashamed of myself that I completely stopped talking to other people.  Fast forward to now and I'm not in a much better spot.  While I am not as dependent on LOL as I used to be, playing every day isn't what my ideal self would do.  I have no idea how I'm going to support myself financially when I graduate.  I have trouble working on large projects for extended periods of time and often procrastinate.  I have no irl friends.  I want to finally feel like I'm in control of my life, so that's why I'm here!

My immediate goals are to do my very best academically and to be able to financially support myself when I graduate, even if it's not glamorous work.  I would also like to decide if I would like to go to graduate school, and if so, what I might like to do research in.

Welcome to the fold man. Good job taking on responsibility and make the decision to quit. This is very important. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you. Are you starting a journal too? I can only recommend it :)

This is a great place to be.  I'm learning so much from everyone, and it is so helpful to connect with people that are working on themselves.  Welcome!

You're not alone! Welcome to the community. Wish you luck on your goals, I'm sure you're very intelligent and achieving academic success is totally possible for you.
