  1. Yes! This is exactly what you do in your "free time." The mindset shift is going from something where you want to be "entertained" to where you want to be engaged. For example, at night I spend a lot of it doing one of the following: 1. Working on my business 2. Hanging out with friends 3. Reading/studying for myself or my business 4. Learning through documentaries and then for about 30 mins/night to wind down, I watch sports highlights, read about politics, check FB, etc. But for you it's about recognizing that you have these other goals you have, and then investing your spare time into them. You can spend them reading and studying about how to have a successful business as you described (check out Amazon Fulfillment businesses), taking action (1 hour/night over time is a lot of time!), etc. If you haven't seen this video yet it will help: Also this one too:
  2. Haha I hate when that happens!!
  3. I always love reading your updates. Having been investing in things like mindfulness, Tim Ferriss podcasts and quality books for many years now, it's exciting for me to know on my end how much your life is going to continue to evolve and change over time as you continue to put "the work" in. Doing the right small actions over time = big results. You just need to have faith in that. For example, yesterday I'm driving from Baker City, OR to Seattle and I'm listening to the podcast as well. I know it will help me in some way.
  4. Happy to hear that man! Loved the post on quitting games! Excited to hear you continue to share through your blog.
  5. Way to go! Your hard work paid off.
  6. There's a meetup group setup for NY/NJ area Game Quitters. Join it here.
  7. As long as I'm around, I'm always going to take the side of open dialogue. I believe having open conversations is one of the most important mechanics of a healthy society. I've completed the 90 day NoFap challenge multiple times and from a place of learning more about yourself I think it's great. A few thoughts quickly: 1) There is a lot of sexual shame in our culture that is damaging in my opinion. This is separate from NoFap but I just want to reference that having sexual tension and desire is NORMAL. 2) In my experience, I found my desire to fap came from a place of anxiety. So I was searching for that dopamine rush, but after the initial hit I would be lower energy and less inspired for my life. 3) I'm definitely of the opinion that porn should be avoided. I do not watch porn and encourage others to stop as well. 4) I have a girlfriend so I don't have much of a need to masturbate often, but it happens occasionally. I do pay a lot of attention to how I'm feeling in the moments where that desire comes up for me, and whether it's a desire to get that dopamine hit, or I'm just turned on.
  8. When things aren't working we notice them, but when they are we don't. It's important to step back and notice when things are working because it helps us identify what's contributing to that and then do more of it.
  9. ?IMO this is more what all of this has to do with then you don't know where to meet people. It's that even if you did meet them you wouldn't know what to say or talk about. This is important to know because if you're trying to improve at one thing but it's not even the thing holding you back it's a flawed approach, and you end up just running around in a circle the whole time. So now that you know it's more on the conversation side of things that you need to focus, you can work on that. I'm a big fan of being in coffee shops (I'm at one right now) and just starting conversations in small ways with the people around me. Just simple things like how are you, what are you working on. Do it in smaller bursts and let the conversation flow as it does. Focus less on one of these being a homerun and instead just do them each day a few times and you'll notice the practice will compound over time and you'll get better. That's really all I did, I just did it every day for the last few years and things got better over time. It's like going to the gym but for your social skills. If you go to the gym once a year, you won't improve. It's only through consistent effort over time that you find gains.
  10. Hey Michael! Thanks for joining us here! For your next steps you want to choose new activities. For ideas you can grab 60+ New Hobby Ideas here. Make sure you pick a few different ones (some to do at home when you're tired/bored, some to do that are out of the house and are social) and use an agenda each day to schedule them so you aren't bored... which is when you'll want to game. Starting a journal can also be great to keep track of your progress and any issues you're running into.
  11. You basically go to a retreat where it's silent (ie: no talking) and you meditate for 10 days straight.
  12. ?And her new one, Rising Strong.
  13. Definitely has to do with other factors and how that contributes to a negative impact or positive impact from games. I discuss a lot of that in this interview here with my friend Locke Vincent who's kind of like Day9. Also, I'll never forget the 100th episode of Day9 back in the day. Loved his stuff.
  14. ?By then I hope I have a team in place to support me! A team of moderators
  15. ?Only good things can happen from it imo.
  16. Hey guys! Happy Monday! Last week I sent out a survey about the biggest problems people were running into, and one theme stood out above the others: how to find your purpose after you quit, so I thought I'd shoot a video on that today. I used to hate the whole "find your purpose" thing because even though I knew the advice was correct.. I didn't know how to actually do it. So in this video I share some of the lessons I've learned along the way including two big myths about your purpose that cause people a lot of frustration and confusion. Some of the feedback I've got recently is to edit less and just speak more raw truth, so I tried to do that more in this video. The other feedback I've got is to try and avoid the camera shadow, so I wore a black shirt but alas, the shadow was still there. Please forgive me I'm working on other improvements soon, but I hope you like the video! Let me know what you think.
  17. The right habits applied consistently over time virtually guarantees results in the end. This was a good podcast I listened to yesterday while I was at the gym. During one of the parts they talk about the difference between goals and systems. I think you'd enjoy it.
  18. ?There was a period right after you left where it was literally just wookie and I for a week or so. Then it jumped back up and now it's better than ever! Don't think I don't remember when it was just me and you mostly too. The good ol' days.
  19. ?I'll never forget a few months ago when it felt like it was literally just me and you commenting back and forth every day after a few of the first few members disappeared for a bit (ZANE!!). The momentum continues to build. Redesign of the main website has helped a lot I think.
  20. I'm currently on the wait list for a 10-day silent retreat in a few weeks.
