Haha I've definitely burned soup before. It's deceptive, you think it's going to be ok until you taste it. One trick I learned (after my burning experience) was this: When you burn soup, don't mix it all together (your first reaction tends to be this.) Instead, take out another pot and dump the soup into it. The burned parts will remain on the other pot and won't mess up the other one as much. It should still be edible.
