  1. Day 30:

@giblets  As in keeping us calm and grounded, lol, if you jammed to the musical styling of Demon Hunter posted by a guy of color (me), then that means I'm getting more variety in my playlist and want to keep my mind from jumping all over the place.

.................Yep, Just taking a moment of silence for achieving nearly a month without playing any games, but i learned something, we are all adults right? And as such we have a right of getting the most out of our lives without stressing out and finding what makes us happy.

So, i read most of your other journals on here about moderation and relapsing and man i felt that. Like with HappyCat's DDR and the new guy posting on here about taking a week to game but relapsing later. I learned that it's all about control, like one guy said to me before, you can play games, but you have to learn how to control them.

When i was 13, my pops gave me a PS3 for Christmas. I was so overjoyed because i was able to experience a new level of gaming, but i was able to moderately control how i played because i knew my studies had to come first. But once i got good, that's when i made the foolish choice to compete with other people online. That's what ate up my life.

It's all about staying productive, finding an interesting hobby to fill the void instead of trapping yourself to relapse by 'gaming to be the best' or 'I'll play this one level for a few hours'. Once you start, that relaxing three hour gaming session may turn into a 7 hour intoxication. I say be careful because people will get you to stay on if you aren't watching your time online. Offline...it's up to you.

So, I agree, sometimes we need a break from all our successes and hard work and it won't hurt to play for 30min or an hour once a month, but just keep in mind that you are all in control of your life as adults. I can say this because i was in Cam's shoes at one point and i let it slip from me, so please just understand me, as i just wanted to get this off of my chest. Good Vibes!

I'm grateful for taking back my life and working

  2. Oh no, don't worry about that you don't do so good in training then they will recycle you (re-train you), I got scared into thinking I was going to go home because I messed up so much in basic training. But it should be the same for you guys

Heh, I can already see myself as "Private Clumsy" (the english translation for the spanish translation for the nickname "Gomer Pyle" from Full Metal Jacket).

Today was a purposedly wasted day and I think I'm ready to focus myself again. Tomorrow is my 23rd birthday, as you know. How will I emotionally judge the last year? I'll tell you in some hours when I know.

Lol, Names just a scare tactic and happy early birthday, just don't markup your calendar

  3. Day 29:

Gonna keep this short, due to the hurricane hitting the southeast coast soon, they are going to cancel school for a whole three days starting on monday. Other than that, i went to pick up some things from the store and i came home today.

I'm grateful for my saftey and working out a budget.

  4.

Yeah, Hitaru you got the point, military school is for people who didn't quite make it in school but the other side of that is people your age who are eagerly signing up to join for the benefits. It's not all bad.

How was it for you? Care to tell some war stories? (?) Don't feel forced in the slightest but it would be cool to know the perspective of an insider. No nuclear launch code, I'm much more interested in the daily life and miseries of the average grunt.

Well, when i was stationed in South Korea back in 2012(i was 20 back then), It was brutal....i literally had to run around everywhere doing tasks and by the time i got done i was glad to get out 5:00 formation and get into bed.

Other than that, the weekends are like paradise, most of the squad i was with had taken weekend leave and explored the inner cities while getting drunk of their butts. We usually get 4 day weekends from working unless we were doing PT and the holidays rolled around.

The Korean citizens were alright as they admired us but hated the way we Americans would carry ourselves at the end of the day. Once we finished working from 9 to 5 and got a cut of our paychecks, every 2 weeks, we would also go out to the PX (or Post Exchange) and get high quality stuff with no tax, sometimes entertainment. Of course i was playing games at the time and bought over 30+ video games, i really didn't care i was actually having fun away from my parents for the first time.

I don't know if I would fit, I don't drink, I don't smoke, peer pressure makes me silly and too polite, I talk weird and I'm every bit the "feminine" wallflower. Guess I'll have to watch old Arnold films one after another to get in the proper mindset.

  6. Day 28:

Just submitted more art today, not as good as the last one's but they were quick drawings nonetheless. Went to a convocation at my school introducing our new president, there were so many people that were on pins and needles wanting to get out of there, they were blocking people from leaving after the awards ceremony i died laughing. So, as far as assignments go i submitted a few relating to doing another group project this time in my psychology class, at least they communicated with me as we worked out who was doing what.

An old gamer buddy of mine called me today, and he started talking about how good Destiny 2 and ARK are on PlayStation 4. I didn't know how to break it to him, but i sucked it up and told him that i wasn't gaming anymore. He asked me why and i told him that i just didn't like the way people were treating me in the community. But he interjects and says i was playing with people who didn't want anything to do with me because i was surrounding myself with aholes. So, long story short, i was becoming a troll and i didn't even know it.  At least he understood instead of giving me 100 reasons to play again. Glad i made the right choice.

I'm grateful for reasoning and having a decent sense of humor.

  7.  @giblets Thanks for the advice! I saw you recent entries in your journal and I think you're doing a great job living the moment. Reading it again, I actually had a hard time imagining you having problems with gaming. You and Vlad actually.

The Inquiry sounds interesting. I'm gonna try looking for their podcast. Currently I'm only listening to the Game Quitters podcast and the Art of Manliness.

@Zala Sorry for keeping you awake.

I guess we are a bit childlike, and we have a world of interests to choose from. I don't find it liberating, just strange and unromantic.

That's exactly right, all of a sudden there are so many things I want to do that I keep thinking I should've done when I was younger. I guess we both have some growing up to do.

To he honest, I never would've thought you were 32 years old and I mean that as a compliment. Maybe I have a misleading prejudice about how a 30 year should act, but I've been told a young heart is the best thing someone could have. At work, I know a very beautiful and very friendly woman and she's also 33.

Only if you know how to act, just my two cents

  8. You are a beast, Robin, how much do you weigh bro?

    Hey thanks man.

I weigh around 73 KG. I'd say im decently ripped (abs visible) so my bodyfat % is somewhat around 13% I guess.

    Age: 17

    Height: 1,80M

Darn man, is that all muscle? Do you use protein?

Haha yea I guess. I used to play soccer after that did dancing for 7 years and now training for the army so I've always been pretty active.

I eat a lot of protein for sure:

    - Quark, Chicken, Tuna, Eggs, Cheese etc.

Mostly around 120+ grams of protein per day just from food sources.

    * Here is a picture of my transformation through the years if interested. http://imgur.com/a/JLyrK

I wouldn't fight you, XD. When are you thinking about joining the army?

Haha 1 month max. I'm going to force myself to run faster. The only thing that is holding me back right now is the 2700M in 12Minutes. My endurance is okay right now, but endurance and speed a bit less ^^

Good word, the army looks for physically fit people for PT just got to prove you have brains

Ye I'm looking to join The Corps Marines from the Netherlands. They make a lot of commercials since they're in need of people now. I just need to stop being a pussy and run faster haha.

Wellup, grab you bawbag and run Blaskowicz

    Castle Wolfenstein

    What is their miltary like?

  12. 07 Sep 17

    Days to go: 221

    Days to the marathon: 10

    Days until assignment due: 4

I have begun watching motivational/inspirational videos in order to keep myself on the right path. I downloaded some last night when I was struggling with distractions from my study and managed to squeeze out an extra hour before going to bed, so hopefully that trend continues. I have downloaded a couple of videos of how to stay calm with people so I will keep them handy in case I am struggling with my emotions rather than beating myself up and getting depressed.

Switched my training up yesterday and tried the treadmill. The physio indicated I should incorporate one run on the treadmill per week instead of so many out on the pavement to try and ease some stress on my ankle which is still bothering me. It was definitely softer on my feet, but boy was it boring. I could only do 30 minutes before I was so bored I couldn't continue. The great thing about it is you can set your pace exactly to the speed you want, so I set it to 5 minute kms which is faster than I ever run, and I did quite well. I felt great after the 30 minutes. I am going back to the road today though, I need to extend those times out and only doing 30 minutes on the treadmill isn't going to help. Only a few more runs before I start resting for the marathon anyway.

Started studying as soon as I woke up again instead of coming on here. I have managed to do 40 minutes before I needed a break and came to my journal. Assignment is coming together nicely, I am trying to work on making it flow and breaking it up into the sections I want to cover before expanding it all out and aiming for the word count. I think I left it a little late to complete it with only 4 days left, but at least I feel comfortable 'sitting with it' and staying focused rather than having to battle gaming.

    Has anyone seen @MettermrckxD

    Battleplan for Today

    1. Work on my assignment as much as possible. Everything else comes second.

    2. Get back to interval training on the road today. Aim for 10+km.

    3. Cook some rice and beans. Apparently it is healthy for you with high protein without needing meat or being very expensive. I have the ingredients, now just need to make it.

    Grateful corner

Free apps. I am trialling aTimeLogger today to keep a track of how much time I am wasting outside of study. It is similar to the Study Checker app that @Tom2 uses, so I will compare the reports on completion and see what is better.

Good that your being productive in your schoolwork giblets, it's a tough road. And i still think he's celebrating. xD

  13. Day 27:

@giblets  I think i figured it out, how about music injection?

Today was still productive on account of a heavy rain from the tropical hurricane, i finalize my contract for the work study tomorrow and they school will have me working for the Student Activities Director making nearly $600 a month starting tommorow. It might just be enough to finally get my car out of the yard and back on the road. I recently took a quick break from drawing to catch up with my schoolwork... so far here are my grades for my classes:

    Afri-American Lit: 77% C

    Abnormal Psychology: 95% A

So, somebody is looking after me. I think i still feel @Mettermrck's journal making it's way in my brain influencing my thoughts. xD

I'm grateful for Collapsing by Demon Hunter and working for a change.

  14. Yup, I've just got to wait it out until day 90 and then see.

    Day 49: It happened

It happened guys. Finally, I ran out of ideas and will have to resort to logging the events of the day. It's dull. School. Workout. Homework. Back to home. Finish homework. Entertainment. Sleep. Rince and repeat.

If you like challenge, try to learn the game of go. Or pick up simple musical instrument like melodica. Of course I am biased, but why not)

Yeah, listen to these guys Skaliq, you'll drive yourself insane if you do the same thing over and over everyday.
