patenakev
Hello all! I have been a life long gamer. To date myself, I remember my family getting an Atari 2600 for Christmas (1982?). So gaming has been around and part of my life for a very long time. I have had a number of 'a-ha' moments where I knew I should give up gaming. Here's the big ones: A few times when I was younger, I gamed so often, it made me physically ill with migraines and nausea. In college, I remember having the time to memorize all the moves for multiple fighting games, but couldn't seem to memorize important things for my major. Numerous times I spent hours trying to use an RPGs crafting system to build basic items, while my long term girlfriend was in the next room bored out of her mind (watching TV) Recently, I pushed the pause button on some of my professional studies, so I could play a long awaited game when it came out. Now to be fair to myself. I don't game everyday and it does not interfere with my job and friends. But, I do find that gaming is my primary escape from stress and main source of procrastination. There are many things I would like to accomplish and feel like gaming does get in my way. I do feel like giving it up is like saying goodbye to an 'old friend', but it's definitely time. I am confident that I can, I quit smoking over 11 years ago, so this should not be as hard. Best luck to all!
