Day 8 Losing my focus. Must get on with end-term papers.
-
Day 7 Feeling myself a little bit. It's horrific to think it took me 2 full days to bounce back from exhaustion. Also starting to realize that on weekdays I am lonely & want company. Going to school where I have no friends is a stress factor. But then again I can't simply change that, so I'll just have to acknowledge that feeling and live with it. Identifying and naming stressful feelings is a good way to cope. (8:25 am) Attended class today. Very pleased with myself. Maybe the beginning of a good streak of days. Better get myself some comfy clothes for the summer. (19:55 pm)

Day 6 Found myself browsing mmo websites. Came here to ground my senses. End-of-term stress is here I guess. Ordered a book that might be a reference for my thesis. Also did some home improvement. Less cables on the ground.

My Progression Board From how I came to Game Quitters and on
taichi replied to Franck the IT guy's topic in Daily Journals
Hello and welcome to the forum! On the topic of why games are so compelling: https://youtu.be/t1pOZbytOhE Short bbc piece on the Australian Jewel Beetle https://youtu.be/JokEMwwJYkA Tedx talk by Michael Astolfi on why we love games Games are to us what those beer bottles are to the Jewel Beetle, but in their case the bottle's design was changed by the company. On the other hand, game makers have no reason to make their products less compelling. Quite the opposite: If people are playing a lot, they're winning. -
Day 5 Pushed myself far too much yesterday. Staying out all day in the summer heat + freezing air conditioning. Could hardly move today. Neglected myself and binge watched garbage YouTube stuff on my mother's laptop. Bad day. I'm thankful that my mother is back from work now.

MENTALLY ENGAGING: Sociology reading/writing. Python. Workouts. RESTING: Reading. Guitar & singing. Cooking. Walk in the green. SOCIAL: Volunteer clean ups.

Day 2 Updated my environment: Only 60 mins of viewpure.com per day. ColdTurkey Pro is pure gold. *edit* My ColdTurkey schedule is something like... 0 mins of: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, most other distracting stuff, game I used to play, porn sites 60 mins of: Viewpure (a compromise for the occasional need to watch a video only on YouTube.)

Thanks. Just purchased it. Feeling too tired right now to act on it. I'll try to do the activities worksheet tomorrow.

Thank you for the reply, Phoenixking. I tried a "3 hours of games a day" thing, but found out I wasn't enjoying the game much anyway. Must not forget how drained and dimwitted I feel after playing video games. My body needs exercise, not sedentary pleasure.

Acting on my tasks is the most relaxing thing, I suppose. But I can't help feeling paralyzed now that my major tasks are 1) thesis and 2) job hunt. 1) Thesis: I am utterly lost on this. Have a few books that I would like to read, but can't find in myself the energy to do that. Not even sure if I can extract a thesis from these books. 2) Job hunting: I do not possess the confidence or mental strength to expose myself to blunt evaluation. I am 2 years late on graduation (if ever) because of my own shortcomings.

hello i-g! Website blockers are a beautiful thing that IMO everyone must have on their pc. These days are just impossible to avoid, relying solely on your willpower. Just install ColdTurkey or Freedom or any other free distraction blocker. You will be thanking yourself in the future.

Day 3 - 9:50 am Still thinking a lot about the mmo. How I could stream it and make videos about it. A part of me thinks that is a good idea, that is the part of me that wants to play games forever. Showered and had breakfast, also shaved a week's worth of beard. Must get myself to college.
