First Post and Day two of Quitting!

Hello,

First, I'd like to mention to Cam! Thank you so much for providing these resources and a place to talk about how I'm feeling and what I can do to fix it.

Why am I here?

I think it's apparent... I want to quit gaming, however it's become much more apparent to me as of recent when my wife almost walked out on me taking her life and my child's life back to her home country.

What have I done so far?

I utilized Game Quitters website for a few things already, such as the hobby finder and even applied to go back to school! The first thing I want to start doing is learning to play guitar, I've already done some research into what I should be looking for but I'm still a little confused as I'm a beginner LOL. I've also watched countless videos on this topic and learned so much about everything already.

My background

I've grown up with video games in my youth, started around age 8 with Starcraft Broodwar, I can't say I ever really played the game and just made custom maps all the time instead. I played this game for nearly 10 years, I would go to extreme ends of trying to get into my mom's office just to play it; breaking into the room with a butter knife to pretending to be sick and not going to school. I think the biggest impact on my addiction was acquiring my first computer. I had the freedom to set it up anywhere I wanted and didn't have to worry about trying to getting into a locked room. I would say that was the biggest step back I took in my life... World of Warcraft. This game had me hooked for years, even till recently I was addicted to it, as well as League of Legends.

10 years later and here I am today, a threatened relationship with my wife and still unborn child... It's time to STOP FOR GOOD!!! I have reached out for support from family as well as a professional psychologist who actually specializes in video game addiction, today is the perfect time to get my life stabilized and going on the right track.
