Unsubscribed from gaming on youtube, never look over someone shoulder if they are watching, closing my eyes if an ad plays on Facebook. Although I'm doing all these things to avoid cravings for gaming it's actually not hard for me at all at the moment.

These are all good steps to take. Some days will be easier than others, either way focus on continuing to take positive action and over time you'll feel better and better.

Do you even read the introductions?

I appreciate that this comment is a little unfair although, I received a similar response to my introductory post. You have changed my life Cam, I mean it! Inspirational. But to offer some constructive criticism, the activity of the forum is severely lacking. People's comments need to be reciprocated otherwise they'll convince themselves that joining the Game Quitter's community is pointless.

Yes I read all of the introduction posts. Unfortunately my schedule is very busy now and I try to pop in and say hi at least when people join. It's very difficult for me to interact in journals and so forth as I did for years before. To be honest, at this point it's up to the community itself to engage and be active with each other. Would love to encourage you to take a leadership role in getting the community more active on here. Or to share ways I can support you in being empowered to do that. Not trying to throw shade but you have 6 posts on the forum.

  3. Hey everyone.

The UK Parliament has launched a new committee looking into video game addiction and they are looking for someone in the UK aged 18-25 who would be willing to testify and share their experience.

Often these inquiries only showcase academic researchers and not the people struggling themselves (like us!) so it's a really great opportunity to share our actual experience with the issue.

If this is you, please PM me and I can connect you.

    Here are the details:

The Committee and the Chair are interested in hearing from gamers between 18-25 that have experienced issues with gaming addiction. The Committee are exploring a variety of themes within the gaming industry and eager to understand the problems young gamers in particular face. This provides a great opportunity for them to speak directly to the Committee and contribute to the final report. Some of the issues that we will be discussing include:

    - Tackling digital and gaming addiction: what are digital addiction and gaming addiction, and how do they differ from other forms? What is the scale of the problem and what support do those with digital or gaming addiction need? What role does design play in gaming addiction, or the addictive use of social media, and how might that be managed? Are extra measures needed to protect children from these forms of addiction? How well co-ordinated are Government efforts on these forms of addiction? What can be learned from other countries?

    - The links between gaming and gambling: what are the links between gaming and gambling? What are the effects of in-game spending, especially on children, and does it need stronger monitoring or regulation? What challenges and opportunities do gaming and eSports offer the gambling industry and how should that be managed?

Please find below guidance for witnesses on giving evidence to Select Committees. It provides more detailed logistical information.

I totally feel where you're coming from - being in school and being addicted to video games. I felt the same way after 149 days of no games - I thought I could do moderation. Now I'm fucked up again. Lets stop being addicts

Relapse can teach you a lot about yourself. I don't play in moderation because I can't. It's relieving to just accept that.

  5. What's your resistance to a community? You mentioned you were lonely in your journal and then here you post that you don't want to be a part of a community. I relate to it because for a long time I was lonely yet I pushed everyone around me away. It was when I started to really look deep down as to why that was (I was bullied a lot so afraid of not being accepted) that I was able to shift it and start building relationships again.

  6. Thanks for sharing. 150 days is still incredible and if you did it once you can do it again. One day at a time. Learn from the relapse and use it to grow.

Yep. Its very boring having nobody to talk to.

What is your social situation? Are you staying home all day? Could you go to a cafe with a book or something? Going to a gym can also be helpful.
