indie_rok
Hello! After relapsing several times on my dopamine and videogames detox, I've decided to start again in public with the idea to not relapse again. I've managed to do a 2 weeks dopamine detox before (no phone and video games for 2 weeks) and a 60-day video game detox. But I always relapse... Why? Because I play with people. Either my girlfriend or one of my friends who wants to chill and play for a day. We do. And then I am hooked and the addiction comes back. Last Saturday, my GF suggested we play for a few hours, and we did. She left, and I've been playing every day until today alone (Wednesday) I'll do the longest video game detox I've ever made (90 days minimum). I'm not sure if I can ever play games without being hooked, but I'll learn this in public with you. My objectives for the next 90 days (instead of gaming) Pass the B1 French accreditation exam. (exam on 7 Nov) Ship and market 2 online start-ups Do an in-depth LLM RAG course for a possible idea I have (talk GPT with your therapy audio transcripts) Pass all my exams in music school and be ready for the Christmas concert (piano and voice training) So there you go, All of these goals made me very excited. Lets fucking go

After really pushing my self, I coded for around 4 hours to launch this directory I showed before. I really miss playing video games, but it's also giving more free time to do other stuff. My GF suggested we can play videogames as long as she take the consoles with her (lol), but I declined. indie_rok
Day 6: Time I woke up: 10:30am Time I went to sleep yesterday: 3am Physical task: None Mental task: None Projects: Took singing and music classes Miscellaneous accomplishments: ~ Finished all pending work I had for my day job ~ Started my singing classes Summary of Day #: Today, I mainly focused on finishing pending tasks from work. I've been procrastinating 5 days and finally I was able to do it. Also, I realised that a big part of my mod swings come from my lack of sleep. And my lack of sleep comes from sleeping super late watching TV. So I am stoping today. No more Netflix, Youtube and videogames. Worth mentioning that this is super hard to do for me. 80% of my free time is spent on the activities I just described. So now I am looking for alternatives to spend this free time. I am trying to read scyfi before sleep. Hope it helps. What I am grateful for today: ~ My music classes and how much I've been able to progress in this days. ~ Having a stable job that pays for all my classes. On my end, I have found it helpful to have activities that can fulfill me in the following areas: Physical health - exercise, walking, planning your meals and making healthy food, etc. Mental stimulation - challenging tasks like projects you're doing, relaxing ones like board games, etc. Spiritual (or mental health) - connecting with nature, meditating, reflecting and journaling, etc. Social and emotional - spending time with your friends and gf, or calling relatives to talk with, etc. I find that I'm more satisfied with my life as I fulfill these areas on a daily basis, to the point where I have greatly lowered my tech (in general) for personal use. I decided to send CVS today while doing so I realized that my CV is not the best and I also don't send cover letters. So I decided to create a tool that helps created tailored CVs for job descriptions and cover letters. It should be ready tomorrow, I'll share the link. What I am grateful for today: ~ CursorAI. This tool allowed me to code a full app in a few hours. Is just amazing. ~ Improving at marketing. While developing my new product. I started thinking ahead about how to market it. I just dont know how. I know it's easier said than done, but try to keep any passive screentime out of your bedtime routine. I've noticed for myself that it takes me about 1h after using screens to fall asleep. In practice and from my own experience, I know it can be very tempting to reach for your device though, particularly if you've made it a consistent habit. It's hard to break bad habits. But give it a go; put your phone away from your nightstand / bed at night, if you text your partner at night you can offer to do a call instead, and generally keep tech out of the bedroom (or all screens off at least). Focus on a more calming set of activities, like reading a book, do a nightly hygiene routine (shower, brush teeth, etc), even eating a light snack like a banana or yogurt (keep it low-carbs and protein).
indie_rok
Day 14-15-16-17-18-19-20 Time I woke up: 10am Time I went to sleep yesterday: 4am Summary of Days: Almost a week without writting, Got worse (briefly played a new game that I really like that came out but then I stoped after like 2h), then better (stoped all screens at 11pm, and doing @D_Cozy routine to go to sleep) I realised that the most important element to keep my shit together is to sleep 8h following circanian cycles (sleep with night, work at day). So that is my main priority. I have not been much productive TBH but we still here.
