That's great man! If you feel that watching e-sports is not detrimental to your health than I am not here to tell you anything. But be sure to be honest with yourself. Could you go without watching the pro scene, or would that also provoke removal symptoms?

Just trying to be open and helpful here.

    Take care 🙂

Hmm, I can't really say anything for now. All I know is that I'm getting a bit confused and stressed over my work and watching professional e-sports games kind of helps ease them. I still don't have any intention to play the game though.

Missed 1 day of journaling 😞. Probably because I don't really know what to write or express my thoughts at the current moment. Maybe I know, but just waiting until it gets to a certain point, then I will express it as a whole. Don't know, but not really wanting to share anything at the moment.

No playing video games, no watching professional e-sports games.

    Hey Stanley!

How are you? Do you feel that the e-sports could be progressively switched to something else?

Hey, I'm good :). I've tried many things, just that I enjoy watching professional e-sports games. I haven't played games though.

Damn it, last couple of weeks have been hard. Been slacking a lot with my work, not focusing and not concentrating enough. Time to get my focus on my work and get these things done.

No playing video games, no watching professional e-sports games.

Computer gaming is an entertainment sport.

If you are the lucky one of 0,0000000001% of gamers who get millions by playing computer games a year, you can do that arround 10 years.

It's like the 0,0000000001% of actors who earn millions.

Compare that to just working some random job, where you have no need to starve.

Esports is the fastest growing sport compared to what?
Dont trust statistics you did not fake yourselve.

E-sports is one of the fastest growing sports, by its number of fans and audience in attendance during its tournaments. Not that e-sports is beating any other sports by its total fans numbers by now, but the rate of it growing is high.

From me personal experience the danger of relapse rises exponentially when watching other people play a game that you like. Why? In my opion it is because you get to see the best case what could happen while playing yourself which will make denying yourself the game so much harder. In reality thrilling moments like the ones you get to see on stream are seldom happening to yourself. Also since you still have lots of contact with gaming you automatically will think more often about it which may lead to relapse as well.

Good reply. Thank you for that.

I don't know if this is a good thing or not. It seems obviously unhealthy, in the same way doing anything to that kind of extreme is not healthy. The kids that are getting into playing video games at that level have a skill in them that is almost supernatural. While I think it's amazing that the (very small) percentage of gamers can express themselves at that level, I can't help but think what they could do if they put that talent towards something worthwhile. Obviously, different people will have different definitions about what is worthwhile. I believe that it's a waste of talent but at the same time it makes that particular talent obvious.

But what about all the hopefuls? All the kids that want to be gaming legends but just don't have what it takes? These are not easy questions to answer. As somebody who is in the process of quitting gaming it's very difficult for me to find any kind of positives that could be generated from gaming to that extent. The truth is I gamed to that level with no expectation of anything other then getting to play the games. Is it better or less addictive to play video games with the intention of playing competitively in the future? I don't know. I don't like the idea of people finding their identity in the video game space, and I think (much like athletes) that it's almost inevitable they they will.

    That's just my two cents.

    Great question.

Thank you for your opinion. This is not an easy topic to discuss. I have a lot of thoughts on this, but I can't put them together into words yet. I will be back once I have settled my thoughts on this. Thank you again for your opinion 😄

  8. 23 August 2020 (Day 22):

Everything is going great. I want to do research and investigation about video games addiction, also about professional e-sports players who practice 12-14 hours a day for at least 6 days a week.

No playing video games and no watching professional e-sports games.

  9. As a former video games addict myself, who used to play 6 - 12 hours a day on holidays and weekends, this post is not meant to encourage people to play more, rather I am asking for your opinions and encourage everyone to look for other things to do than playing video games.

E-sports is one of the fastest growing "sports" in the world. More people are getting addicted to video games and wanting to be professional e-sports players.

I would like to know your thoughts, e.g. can this be a good thing? If not, how do we stop this?

Considering top e-sports players make millions of dollars each year.

    Thank you!

  11. 20 August 2020 (Day 19):

Working hard to be a professional full-stack developer. Learning API, XML Http Requests, these are freaking hard but I'm getting it.

No playing video games and no watching professional e-sports games.

Just realized how powerful journaling is. 10 days ago I did not feel this way at all, and by reading what I wrote 10 days ago, I can get a feel of how things have changed in just 10 days (my thoughts, feelings, etc). This is something completely new to me.

I am more motivated than ever to become a professional full-stack developer. Studying and learning harder and more effectively than ever. I am confident I am going to get this done.

No playing video games and no watching professional e-sports games.

Getting much better. Working my best to get out of my house, get a job and finally rent an apartment myself. I feel that I can work, think, do things much clearer without my parents around. They are just noises that just created more problems than there were in the first place.

Working my best to be a professional full-stack developer 😄

No playing video games and no watching professional e-sports games.

  14. 16 August 2020 (Day 15):

Okay, I'm finally ready to write out my thoughts and feelings. Last couple of days have been pretty overwhelming, yet it's a good thing, because I exposed my parents' true faces.

As I have been aware my whole life, everyone (at least almost everyone) wears masks. People hide their true feelings, thoughts and so on. I can't really talk further about this, but I think everyone understands and can relate to this.

Well, this is especially true for my parents. Ever since I've known them, I have never felt any kind of leadership attributes from them. Somehow, they are like children mind, with adult bodies. Instead of working our way to solve problems, they blame me, or they blame my brother. It has always been a blaming game, and never really about solving problems.

I'm still trying to get my thoughts around this, but yeah, they have never been a leader to me. It sucks and disappointing, but it is what it is. I guess I have to be the leader for myself, instead of looking up to my parents as my leaders.

As for video games, no playing video games and no watching professional e-sports games.
