NEW VIDEO: I Quit MMOs and THIS Happened

Invitation to participate in a scientific study on recovery from gaming problems

Recommended Posts

Hi! My name is Benediktas Gelūnas, I am a PhD student in sociology of mental health at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania. I am doing research on men‘s recovery from problematic gaming (however you name it). This research was inspired by personal experience and reading people's stories on the StopGaming subreddit, which also led me to this forum. There is an important debate going on in both academic and non-academic circles about the notion of gaming addiction and its treatment, and I find that the perspective of people with personal experience is unfortunately absent from most of the discussions and theories.

So, do you consider yourself having recovered or in recovery from a gaming addiction, dependence, or problematic habit? Are you at least 18 years old? If yes, I would be greatly interested in doing an online interview with you and hearing your story. The session would take about 45-90 minutes. Your identity would, of course, be anonymized and data protected. The reward for your time would be the contribution of your experience and perspective towards a hopefully more truthful and humane scientific and social treatment of the topic.

If you are interested, please contact me through a personal message here or my university email at benediktas.gelunas@vdu.lt. You can withdraw at any time. I‘m looking forward!
