  1. Hey Cam! If you haven't already covered this I'd be curious if other people who have stopped gaming still feel the impulse to do things like read about gaming culture, watch twitch streams, and do other peripheral things. I guess I'm interested in games from an anthropological perspective— I had a previous job working at a VRcade where I saw a strong sense of community and positive impact like people using games to get over their real-life fears. I am telling myself that as long as I'm not the one gaming it's ok but maybe I'm deluding myself! Cheers.
  2. Hey everyone, I'm a Los Angeles based video editor and my friend Jimmy from film school directed a short which is going around festivals called Polybius. It's somewhat based on an urban legend about a mythical game cabinet that triggered obsessive habits, and was used for mysterious purposes of mind control. It's kind of funny to imagine that game developers now use psychological tactics to make their games be played for longer periods and have folks keep coming back to them. What used to be supernatural ideas regarding player attention are now commonplace. At one point in the film a character keeps repeating "just one more game!" which are the exact words I've said in my own head when playing Fortnite to the wee hours of the morning. Here's the 90 second trailer I edited for the film: https://bloody-disgusting.com/videos/3541468/trailer-tom-atkins-back-yes-hes-playing-sheriff-short-film-polybius/ If you'd like to read more about the urban legend: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polybius_(urban_legend) Thanks for taking a look
  3. Hey everyone. For the new year I'm quitting Fortnite, which was causing me to stay up really late each night obsessively playing. A few years back I had to have CounterStrike removed from my Steam account for having a similar issue. I've been a fan of Cam's podcast and website and am looking forward to developing some new hobbies that get me out of the house more. Good to be here.
