As the title says, no more no less! Frequent or expected topics from a newcomer's perspective, such as:

- Why did you quit games?

- How to / How to not

- Willpower Motivation

- Depression (and moving on from it)

- Building good habits / Breaking bad habits

- A FAQ section. There's already this FAQ section about forum functionality, I mean something more like: "Oh no I've just quit games/have not quit yet and I'm lurking for info/I don't know if I can trust you or you're just a bunch of post-New Age weirdos/I'm lost and don't know where to start pls halp" -> "Ok, here". I've been around here not so much time (or maybe yes?) and I got used with the forum relatively quick but I'd still have been grateful if this was a thing back in the time... and with the forum growing larger and larger (hopefully) this will be more of an issue in the future.

[Edit:] There's this topic about Getting started in the forum. But what if someone is not ready to join in and "out" themself, even with an anonymous persona? When I arrived here I got the impression this site was packed with breathtakingly ahead-in-life (to say something) albeit friendly gurus and I can say I was scared as a little child. Thank goodness now there are more wei err... I mean... not like I myself I'm not... well. You know. Anyway so it should be a place where people could get "the general idea" of this Game Quitters thing.

Ok I'm down. I need help to build this to be more what you think would be important for those who are new.

I say we identify a few key questions to answer for those who are newbies/lurkers who may be skeptical. What are some questions that we must absolutely include in a thread about this?

Let's identify this first, then we can categorize some of my YouTube videos to answer other common questions and then maybe have a few key threads for suggested reading (do you have any that come to mind?)

Also, anyone else other than Hitaru can add input in this. I appreciate the help!

Why questions first

Why should I quit gaming and for how long?

What are the benefits?

Why shouldn't I try to moderate ?

Am I addicted or do I just have too much fun gaming?

Why should I start a daily/regular journal?

Howto Questions second

What should I do with my time?

Should I stop other addictive behaviours(browsing/porn/bad eating habbits) too, or does it get too much?

Do I have to be game free to post in the forum?

Do you have some book recommendations for the start?

Howto Questions secondhould I delete games or test my willpower and keeping them installed and why?

How can I adjust my Internet usage in a more beneficial way?(aoid triggers, don browse mindlessly etc.)

All my friends are gamers and don't understand this what now?

I relapsed, can I still post here?

Feel free to add or remove some things but for a starting point these are my suggestions

@WorkInProgress has produced a great list. Personally I would alter the wording of the question Why shouldn't I try to moderate? to Can I play in moderation? I imagine the prospect of never playing games is quite daunting for some, even to the point that it may put people off. First and foremost, get people onside with the 90-day detox, and state why they shouldn't play games during this period, then explain that they can use this time away from gaming to see whether moderation would be right for them if they so wish. Agree/disagree?

  • Why should I quit gaming and for how long?
  • What are the benefits of the 90-day detox?
  • Am I addicted or do I just have too much fun gaming?
  • Can I play in moderation?
  • Why should I start a journal?
