(If you have enough energy to play a game, you probably have enough energy for other things than just lounging around.) ;)

Lol that is very true! Some games I tend to go auto-pilot though so, it's not as energy demanding as one might think ^^

Day 21: Need To Lost Some Fat!

Yesterday I weighed in and noticed I put on some weight, so today is the start of my healthy regime. After this I'll go and exercise on the bike and make sure I eat healthy all day.

It's going to be a short journal entry today as I want to try to start work I bit earlier.

What I'm Grateful For:

  • Beautiful Spring Day
  • Family
  • Friends

Today's Agenda:

  • Work on my site for a few hours.
  • Work on some book publishing.
  • Write in Journal.
  • Exercise and stretch.

Cya tomorrow! :)

Day 22 - The Ultimate Test Incoming!

As I write this journal I have a friend round who I'm letting install games on my computer to play. (hes bored slightly autistic and im giving him something to do)

This will be a true test of my willpower, it'll be fun to see how it goes! :) All good so far though.

Yesterday I didn't do one ounce of work and spent the whole day just learning about bonsai and taking care of my current one. I felt pretty down yesterday so I think I can forgive myself lol.

Then I went to bed around 11pm which is mega early for me! Not an exciting day to document by any means, but hey ho...we have those sort of days I guess.

Today I'm going to spend a little time with my matey and hopefully do some work afterwards. Oh and yesterday my eating went pretty well, I remained under my calories so all good.

What I'm Grateful For:

  • Bonsai Trees
  • Friends
  • Early Nights

Today's Agenda:

  • Avoid Temptation
  • Remain with my healthy lifestyle
  • Try to finish off some work
  • Write In Journal

Thanks for reading, cya soon peeps. :)

What kind of food are you eating right now?

Below is what a typical day looks like for me:

Breakfast: x2 Wholemeal toast with jam, x1 Banana

Lunch: Wholemeal Sandwich (With some of of meat in it), x1 Small Apple, x1 Small Orange

Snack: Few Pickles and maybe another orange.

Dinner: Now this is where It goes wrong...dinner sometimes leads to a take-out of some degree and typically where I screw it up.

Normally around dinner time I would be gaming, so I wouldn't really care for food as much.

Day 23 - Feeling Productive

If anyone works from homes I think they can relate to the struggle of balancing work life with family and other stuff. The past couple of days I've felt quite lethargic and non-productive which in return has led to no work being done. I've perhaps made the odd paragraph or two on certain blog posts and my upcoming book, but nothing actually substantial.

Today I feel ten times better after last night's mini achievement though, from me simply resisting a whole days worth of gaming and such is so empowering. I've woken up with a renewed vigor and I plan to smash all of my goals today!

I think I was pressuring myself too much with the whole fat loss thing. My primary goal is to now keep this detox up and eventually the improved willpower will start going over to other aspects of my life such as work, fat loss and such.

I will still try to lose fat too, but I wont be doing it seriously like my gaming detox. My brain only handles one task at a time, but when my brain does focus it tends to just plough through anything in it's way.

I literally just finished that sentence and the post came...

This sticker is awesome! :D I need to find out where to put it now. Wow it's amazing how a sticker can boost your morale so much :D

What I'm Grateful For:

  • Cam & This Forum
  • Birds chirping outside (I will try to video them soon)
  • My Willpower

Today's Agenda:

  • Finish Off 2 Blog Posts
  • Finish Some Book Publishing Work
  • Learn Something New

Anyways I'll catch you guys soon, I need to go to work :).

Day 24 - Beautiful Sunny Easter Friday

Just got back from a awesome little walk to the shop, in this sunny weather. I was feeling a little bit down so needed to get out of the house. I stopped by my mum and dad's to visit too, was nice catching up a little bit.

Today I plan to get a little bit of work done, but today is mainly going to be dedicated to research. Also sorry if these journals are a bit random and poorly written, I'm using these as a way to get the thoughts off of my mind.

Yesterday in regards to work was fantastic...I managed to get the majority of it done. Also for the first time since doing this detox I didn't really think about gaming, which is definitely a step forward!

So the daytime was definitely good...night time not so. We ordered take-in again, the local shop's website screwed up and ended up ordering twice. In short, I'm now down £14 down and last night was the first time since the detox started that I felt the rage and anger I felt whilst gaming.

That was the sign I needed to stop ordering junk food! Apart from that incident, yesterday went pretty well. The only other thing I'm noticing is the tiredness lately...I think it may be due to me not gaming.

When I was gaming I was always wired and hardly tired. It was almost at the point where I had trouble sleeping, but now it's completely the opposite lol. I think my brain is kind of adjusting to a normal life where my mind and body aren't always rushing with dopamine and endorphins etc from gaming.

I hope that's the case haha.

Anyways I've written enough for today...until next time...you stay classy San Diego! (you get a Like if you can name the film this is from ;) )

What I'm Grateful:

  • The ability to walk in this sunny weather.
  • Monster Energy :x
  • Great Neighbors

Today's Agenda:

  • Walk to the shop.
  • Write in my journal.
  • Do some work research.
  • Upload a Video.
  • Do some Publishing work.

Day 25 - Rainy Saturday

What an extreme weather change...yesterday it was beautiful and sunny. Today it's rainy, windy and overcast...good ol' British weather lol. Yesterday went really well in regards to the detox and I had no cravings what-so-ever, even whilst showing someone my entire steam library :o (all 137 games haha).

I spent the majority of the day with family and had a good time with them all, even though around 4:30pm I felt so tired and my eyes were really heavy! I hope this goes soon, if it doesn't I may have to look into different food choices and perhaps adding a bit of exercise in.

I'm not too sure what I'm going to be doing today, I may spend a few minutes after I write this journal and decide what my goals are today. It could possibly be that I just spend today relaxing and go watch some sports games with my dad.

It's one of those days where staying in and chilling could be on the cards lol ^^

What I'm Grateful For:

  • My Willpower
  • My Family
  • Having A Roof Over My Head
  • The Lilies Which Smell Awesome

Today's Agenda:

  • No idea :D
  • Perhaps Relax?
  • Who Knows
  • I Like Energy Drinks

25 days man, that's awesome. great work!

Thanks Cam :D

Day 26 - Happy Easter!

Yesterday was a pretty good day for me. I went round my parents house again and chilled with them watching cricket and ended the day with them by having fish n' chips. Every day now my cravings are becoming less and less within me and it feels great!

I finished off the day by watching England play Germany and watching Daredevil on Netflix. I think I've decided that I'm going to map out a fitness plan today and schedule the start of it on the 1st of April, this will be my month milestone on my detox.

My reasoning and mind-programming is that If I've done a month without gaming then I can stick to a fitness and healthy eating regime. I know how my mind works and I believe If I can do the month's detox, It'll be sort of a snowballing-willpower effect.

Today so far I've been out for dinner with my parents and Fiancee and now im stuffed lol. I plan to do some planning and spend the rest of the day chilling. Unlike most people I wont be taking the day off for a Bank Holiday but working instead (no work...no gain :) ).

What I'm Grateful For:

  • My Parents
  • Lovely Food At A Restaurant
  • Ice-Cold Cola With Lemon In It.

Today's Agenda:

  • Go Out For Dinner (socialise)
  • Write In Journal
  • Plan Out Fitness Regime & Healthy Food Plan
  • Plan Out Work For Tomorrow.

Cya soon boy and girls!

Yeah it helps to start doing one thing after the other. If you make a fitnessplan i would advice you to do a daily practice. Better to less but do it regular. I stick to my exerciseplan for the first time in my life and i strongly suspect that the daily rythm is the reason for it. If your interested in Bodyweight training this site(bodyweightfitness) is a good ressource with good vdeos. Making fitness a daily habbit will surely benefit you in many ways. Happy Easter to you too!

Thanks Mario, I'll check that site out and yeah I totally agree with doing it regular. I have the sort of mentally, where I go all in sort of thing. If I rest...that rest turns into a week and then a month lol. Which is why the detox is working for me. I bet if I start gaming 'moderately' it'll go back to how it was.

Anyways, gonna go and carry on planning.

Day 27 - Feeling Tired

Another restless night...im not tired enough to go to sleep, which leads me to going bed early hours of the morning. Then I get woken up early by the postman. Then my fiancee ends up waking me up multiple times...feeling agitated is an understatement!!

On top of all of that, I have to socialise with her family...now her family has messaged saying they aren't coming. So I woke up early for nothing, UAAARRGGGHHH!!!!!!!

This is one of the reasons I quit my full time job, because lack of sleep makes Nick an angry Nick!

Haven't got the energy, willpower or motivation to do anything today and my fiancee has just gone out.../sigh. I may just go back to bed or binge on Netflix. I have a few weaknesses and If I don't get a solid 8 hours of sleep, that's one of them.

What I'm Grateful For:

  • Nothing

Today's Agenda:

  • meh

Currently I'm doing no exercise, after a whole day in bed thinking about stuff  I realise this is perhaps where I'm going wrong.

The only sugar I eat comes from the natural stuff in food because we drink sugar free drinks and eat hardly any Candy.

The only caffeine I have is x2 250ml cans of sugar free energy drink when I wake up.

And no...until now that is, this thing is awesome :o .

Thanks for the tips Cam, I seriously need to up my activity and perhaps do more mind-laborious activity.

Day 28 - A Day Of Reflection

I'm not going to lie but yesterday was pretty bad emotional wise. I spent all day in bed either sleeping or thinking and I didn't socialise or even work. I managed to get out of bed at around 8pm and ended up watching Netflix and YouTube until around 5am.

Today has been a little bit better...in the aspect that I've actually got out of bed and such. Still no work has been done, but today has been more of a reflection on my life and what I need to do to actually change.

It's all well and good quitting games, but if I cant actually do anything with my life now I quit...I'd just be filling that void with other mindless crap. This is what's bothering me at the moment. It's the fact I've quit gaming and in the space of close to a month all I've done is just about get by with work and watch bloody Netflix.

I'm currently writing this as listening to music, whilst thinking what I should do. I've always been fantastic at drawing up plans, goals, tasks etc. Not once though have I actually gone through with the damn things.

I always run out of steam or trip up and make up an excuse to fail in what I'm doing. I suppose as a positive, I've stuck with this detox for close to a month now...I think it's the longest I've ever stuck with something lol.

You see I kind of always go in head first with mountains of motivation and then in the space of perhaps a week, I lose all of that motivation and go back to what I was doing before.

I know what I should be doing, but i don't do it. I paused for a moment whilst writing this and closed my eyes...It has dawned on me that the reason I've never stuck with something or worked out my issues has been one thing...

..Games. It all makes sense now all these years, Any time that I would fail, feel down, depressed, fatigued, hungry, angry, happy, sad or Anxious I would pull up my chair and play hours worth of games. The feeling would go and I would never address what I was feeling in the first place.

I approached my anxiety this way and never actually thought to apply to the other areas of my life too...perhaps I need to do what @Dannigan has done and detach from Technology too such as Netflix and YouTube.

Become a Buddhist Monk for a week or something lol ^_^, just sit here and do what my brain does best and think. Listen to some music, put my pen and pad down beside me and write whatever I need to address and conquer. No more escaping from reality anymore.

I may finish watching the walking dead and perhaps stop watching TV altogether too. I've noticed that since I've stopped watching the stupid food review videos on YouTube and cleaned up my YouTube recommendations I've had less cravings for junk and for gaming.

Its truly amazing how these advertisers tap into your sub-conscious to get you to feel something physically and emotionally. My food cravings and gaming urges have dropped by around 50% perhaps more since I've stopped watching crap like food reviews and gaming videos.

So today could possibly be another day of no work...but instead of reflection and thought.

Whoa, I just realized how much I wrote. Oh well that's what journals are for :) haha, I shall end it here. If anyone does read this then, thanks!

What I'm Grateful For:

  • This Journal
  • Music

Today's Agenda:

  • Reflect
  • Meditate
  • Write In Journal

The most important thing you can do to switch this right now is to start being much more intentional with how you start your day. What is your morning routine? If you get the free chapters of the Challenge (available here) it will help you setup a morning routine. Imagine starting your day with a few wins right away. A bit of exercise, a nice healthy meal, a task you have for work or two. Now you have momentum and that momentum builds into the rest of your day.

Yeah I agree Cam, at the moment my morning ritual starts off as...Wake up - Grab a Drink - Mindlessly Browse the internet and watch Netflix. I believe If i can shift my routine into something like... wake up - Exercise - shower - meditate - grab drink & breakfast - start on a job task, my body and mind will thank me!

Also I tried downloading the three chapters but nothing has come through yet?
