Day 128 - Sixth Day of the Fourth Month.

Found more video games, consoles, and peripherals that have need to be destroyed - that will be fun!! They were packed into boxes just sitting in my room and now they are sitting in the garage waiting for me to devote time to having my way with them :646_hammer:

On top of that my room has a lot more space now this will certainly help keep my mind clear as well. What a great way to be alive

My Gratitude

  • I am grateful for https://forum.gamequitters.com/ being such a fine platform to maintain my sobriety from video games. Simply seeing that a StopGaming reddit page existed made me to investigate further as I was already inspired to abstain from pornography from Nofap. Same vain of great progress. I supect had I not found these places my life would be well down the sh*tter right now. Words cannot explain how grateful I am for these places! #donate
  • I am grateful for the https://acoa.activeboard.com 12 step forums that continue to be a service to my Stage Two recovery work from growing up in a abusive dysfunctional family, now that I have pushed away my addictions I am able to prioritize Stage Two recovery - I am very thankful for this.
  • Grateful for the birds that follow & whistle back and forth with me as I run & cycle down my dead-end road, that motivates me to put my feet on the pavement every time :)
  • I am grateful for all the freedom of time my sobriety has given me. The difference is night & day when you find worthy goals to accomplish.

An oatmeal recipe that struck me last night like a bolt of lightning!:336_zap:
Today I took my time to craft one amazing lunch - never thought I would be putting hot sauce in a bowl of oats but my god it was delicious :6_smile:
The ingredients sitting before you is rolled oats, crushed cauliflower, walnuts, onion, & mushrooms seasoned with garlic powder, ground turmeric, black pepper, nutritional yeast, hemp hearts, mustard, salt, & minced greens topped with black pepper, Tabasco and a pinch of salt. Starchy feast for the brain :118_bust_in_silhouette: Speaking of which something is telling me that diced & cooked russet potatoes would accompany this creation very well!
.. I call this Savory Old Fashioned Stove-Top Oats

Starting to get this idea to make a dedicated food blog but right now for the fun of sharing what I am now able to invest my time into doing .. you are welcome! :5_smiley:

Today was my first time getting out the pastas in a while so will continue to build off of this. This was super tasty but was a little dry even though I re-hydrated the dish and the gluten from the barley I suppose made everything want to clump together so I am thinking next time I will replace the barley with something else like more vegetables. Cooked cauliflower and Tabasco would touch it up really nice I think! :631_bulb:

Ingredients used was whole grain penne / spaghetti / barley, diced onion, sliced mushroom, tomato paste, ground onion & garlic, salt, hemp hearts.

Penne Spaghetti Pasta upgrade!
Penne & Spaghetti noodles in saucepan covered & cooked about 10 mins. Added broccoli, onion, & mushrooms around 6 minutes in then as get rid of most remaining water by boiling open on medium or strain - then added garlic & onion powder along with a chunk of tomato paste. This was an awesome change-up to my routine foods :113_tongue:

11th day of the 4th month

Enough only counting my sobriety from video games already I have a new detox to start!

I have made a decision to go without digital technology for 90 days which means no internet, no computer, no television, no smart phone except to check email for job interviews, no radio, no music at all even unless I am creating it ..

.. and I will begin this week - yikes!

I will be spending the day getting ready to begin by applying for a lot of jobs and will print a lot of resumes. :5_smiley:

Just the motivation I needed to get the ball rolling here, this is going to be fun!

I haven't gotten a chance to read it, but Cal Newport's Digital Minimalism is a book I've been wanting to get my hands on. i listened to an hour talk from him about it and was so inspired by some of the things he talks about here. (His talk is what started my questioning about what I was doing). He asks his readers to go through what he calls the digital declutter for similar reasons. The kids in our age have ALWAYS had the technology in their life, while some of us grew up with it evolving. It definitely makes a difference, I think. Anyway, you got this! Good luck!

@BooksandTrees @Dylan Tazzioli
Really all there is to the curry dishes I make is dice up my choice of potato. Sweet potato is really tasty though sometimes russet is all I have and they do the job just fine. I add a handful of barley or serving of pre-soaked lentils along with pre-diced veggies though I never pre-dice carrots they are super quick to chop. Putting lentils in dry will change things up I can explain that separately if you would like to hear about that. Really I believe half an hour soaking is enough time for lentils to benefit they will double in size but I start soaking one meal in advance so it is not forgotten. I suppose it should be said I soak in filtered water otherwise they absorb fluoride or whatever else is in the tap water supply.

Add all of that with 1-1/4 cup water to cook in a medium saucepan covered on low heat for 10mins, uncover and turn it up to medium heat about 5mins until it looks how I want to eat it, I don't like it soupy so I let it boil until I hear it sizzle. Then I usually add a generous pour of garlic powder and two pinches of salt, sometimes a generous bit of nutritional yeast really good flavor, sometimes ground turmeric & black pepper, sometimes curry powder. You don't want to add so much your food gets really dry though you can add some water to hydrate so whateves. :29_smirk:  Then finally I add a bit of hemp hearts, stir, add a final sprinkle of salt on top, sometimes mustard & ground black pepper, sometimes Sriracha or Tabasco sauce if I want a kick, sometimes I mash up half an avacado & squeeze half a lime when I stir in hemp hearts.

A lot of options there but when you know what you want this is an incredibly simple one-pot curry you can enjoy with cheap, affordable whole food ingredients that have a great shelf life, enjoy! 🌶️

How do you get enough fats in your diet?
