Of course, I always decide to play. What I want to say is I don't know when to stop and playing games always makes me nervous and for some reason, I always choose to do it again.

And now the question is: What to do about that? I always like the positive approach. Instead of focusing on not doing something, try to focus on something else. Something, that you consider meaningful. That also has to do with your identity, what you want in life, your goals etc. What do you think?

So, I will do 2 civil service exams this year, one in June to the air force (Brazil) and another in November. The truth is I'm not confident I need to study more, and I don't know if the time is enough.

Gaming is a b****. I can relate to a lot of what you said. I have tried several times to play games in moderation and it always backfires. Usually, even on the first try, I say "well I will just play for 2 hours and then I am done and happy for the day" .... 4 hours later I am still drowning in the high it gives me. Meanwhile time and real-life pass by which is easy to ignore while I play but once I stop I realize it and that makes me feel miserable and anxious. It is like the saying "give them a finger and they´ll take an arm" just a small taste and I would be right back where I was about a month and a half ago. I think that one of the biggest issues with gaming is that it is extremely exciting compared to a lot of activities in the real world which might seem boring because of the lack of magic or constant action. What helps me is to stay as busy as I can, limit all distractions when I focus on something and try to get into the flow. It is much harder than with gaming but it is possible and you will not only be happy while you are working but you will be happy once you finish as well. Opposite to gaming which will just leave you with a feeling of dread. The current situation does make it harder but I believe that if we can avoid video games in such hard times it will be so much easier once things get back to normal. Btw I love the name of your journal!

In my opinion, the reason for our fascination with gaming is only partly due to the

magic or constant action.

Sure, games have mechanisms, which are trying to bring us into a state of flow. But our composition and attitude is also related to this issue: We are competetive, for us gaming is just fun. We enjoy the things, games give us. We are adventure seeking. Games are offering this adventure. But I think, once we are able to see the magic and adventure in other things than we don't need the games anymore. I see this magic in working out as well as psychology. My body is the character, the gym is the daily mission or quest and my muscles are the reward. I also highly agree to the fact than staying busy can be helpful, as long as it is not too much and not exceeding our limitations. Than it becomes annyingly hard work and often results in failure or relapse.

Therefore ask yourself. What do these exams mean to you? Are they just a necessary evil? That will make it hard for you. Are they part of a chain of goals, which are in line with your identity and you desperately want to fulfill? Than they are meaningful. In that case: Go and work your ass off. Work harder than anyone else without destroying yourself. Stimulation instead of annihilation. No matter how much time is left. There is no difference, whether the exam is in one month or next week. Just keep going. If you are not able to do that properly, this means one of two things: Either those exams are not in line with your current identity or there are other things, which are just MORE in line with your current identity like gaming or chilling on your couch. Than you should ask yourself, what you want in life, what your current identity of yourself is and if you are satisfied with that.

@Alexanderle There are many checkboxes that gaming fulfills which makes it so addictive but I was not going to write down everything. I wanted to point out that it can be hard to find hobbies or other things to do instead of gaming because many of them are nowhere near as exciting and easy to get into as gaming in the beginning.

NO GAMING DAY 4 | NO COFFEE DAY 4

Good Morning,
This week was long, on Monday I played, my idea was to fix my sleep cycle, therefore I played the entire night and let to sleep on Tuesday, but didn't work, and I did some exercises on Wednesday and today(Saturday), I started meditating again, I can't explain how well I felt was amazing. So, I want to talk about addicts again I was feeding my addiction with lives and videos on youtube, but I realize that I can't keep this, it's the same as letting a gambling addict in a casino. At last, this week I want to keep my routine decrease, my intake of coffee, fix my sleep cycle, and keep my planner up to date;

Thx I was creative lol, I think addictions are a way to escape reality, but the pleasure it gives is just momentary, so we spent increasingly time and money on these addictions.

Idk what I would do without a gym in my life, this year I will complete 4 years of gym, my first year was boring, I didn't like it, but the last 2 years it was amazing is where I clean my mind.

NO GAMING DAY 7 | NO COFFEE DAY 0 | D GAMING VIDEOS 0

Hey everyone,
So I was meant to study these days, but I ended up spending most of my time with Twitch.tv and all these days I'm procrastinating in some way or another, I still don't want to say goodbye to everyone that I meet in this world, but I need to do something. I will start decreasing my time of gaming videos and lives.
Sometimes I'm getting anxious and feeling the desire to play, but I still strong.
