NEW PODCAST: Can You Still Play Games on the Weekend?

I'm back. Whether "Legendary" or not :|.

A lot happens since my last entry. I've been thriving in my life, but sometimes games were still an issue for me.

I want to shatter this once and for all. And writing here helped me a lot in the past!

So, let's start it now!

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

#Day 2035 (Since I decided to quit)

[0/0/X]

This 0/0/0 represents 3-headed dragon day strike, as @Cam Adair once said:

Quote

"Basically, all the gamers have to deal with 3-headed dragon - gaming, Internet and porn." ~ @Cam Adair

  • From the left it means GAME FREE days
  • The center one is for unplanned INTERNET usage FREE days.
  • The right one is MASTURBATION FREE days - (I never had any issue with porn, so I turn it a little bit more challenging.) Now I already have X amount of day in a row, number known only to me, but I'll add a number of days on this journal since the beginning. This will help me keep a secret of this information for me, unless I will break the streak.B|

Remember my last year when I failed final exam twice due to gaming? Now I have a retake at next Thursday. I MUST Study. No Excuses.

However this time I relapsed to video games and Internet overusage instead of studying. So I have an issue I have to deal with right now.

I'm re-reading respawn and do all the things to create a bigger barrier of entry to games/Internet.

Mischief managed.

Welcome back brother. :)

Hello Cameron! I missed our Founder. How was in Tanzania for the second time? Are you going there this summer? If yes, I'll support your crowdfunding :)

#Day 2035 (Since I decided to quit)

[1/1/X+1]

I blocked almost the entire Internet this time. Using the White List option with "Block Site" app it is possible. I just typed in websites necessary for me to use (like this forum :) or google.com). Obviously on every browser I have on my computer to not avoid this stupidly.

I can't make any uncertain and unsafe moves on the Internet that made me lost hundreds and thousands of hours in critical times of my life.

Obviously I can add any website to the White List. However, this require couple of aware action steps to take:

  1. I have to google that website (writing address down won't help - Block Site automatically redirect me so I can't copy written address)
  2. Then I have to pick an address manually on the list (again, copying the link from Google doesn't make sense, because I need to have redirected link on the list, not google link)
  3. And in the end I have to confirm my choice (you think that's the easiest, but still requires some energy and awareness of what I'm doing.

So, I'll choose the websites I'm visiting wisely. I can't unlock entire YouTube. That's the problem I'm fighting with - mindlessly browsing YouTube, and unlocking the website will grant me breaking my one day streak of no mindless Internet browsing. I am against it. B|

I did some study yesterday... 6,68 golden hours (50-minute periods) so far... It looks like a lot, but I decided to be more consistent and it's a result from 2 days of studying.

6 days left to the final exam. I've got to study more. I'm leaving house within the next hour to study outside.

Mischief managed.

Tanzania was truly incredible the second time, and yes I will be going back this July to build a third well. I am also sponsoring a beautiful young girl named Glory to go to school - she just started first grade. Your presence was missed here. :)

Welcome back friend!

Hola amigo! I saw you merged most of my previous journals into one, and made it featured one. Thanks! However, let the rest stay as it is in my signature. Each of them symbolizes for me next stage of my gamequitting, so I'm glad you left those most important for me :)

Interesting one with sponsoring Glory. I was participating into something similar during my high school. I mean, the entire class donate about 200 złotych/month (50$ U.S.) to give a girl in Africa possibility of education and basic needs (she doesn't even have shoes at the beginning). That's interesting how low amount of money you need to give something possibility to live there. And I also remember times where we sent her photo of our class and she also sent us cards sometimes. It was great experience, and after finishing high school we left sponsoring her to younger class.

Is your sponsoring going to be something similar? Or something more specific?

I'll support you on Tanzania (last time it was 1+97$ :D, we'll see if I'll be able to do more, maybe engaging my friends will help ;)), but I have a suggestion for you. Can you make more content from this place? I mean, from the first trip it was a lot more content (videos with other travellers, kids etc.) but on the second trip you made less of them. How about showing us how the well was build (that's an interesting one for most people), showing some landscapes as you shown them before in the first episodes, you know, to bring people outside the video games world? That would be awesome to see, cause I've never been to Africa and you can show to many people how living there looks like. I am also interested into how your living quality looks like there. :)

#Day 2037 (Since I decided to quit)

[2/2/X+2]

My streak is growing... I feel much better without games and excessive Internet. However it requires a lot of effort from me to not go into this activities. I've got to make through.

I feel better with more sleep I am giving to my body. Better prepared to gain some knowledge.

Also, I think there is an improvement with my discipline. Yesterday, I did 6 golden hours of studying outside. That's fuckin' awesome! I feel like a winner right now.

Today next challenge for me - will I make an 8-hours streak?

Some of the statistics for the exam:

  • 3 days of studying
  • 12,96 golden hours studied (3,24 on average daily)
  • 5 days left to the final exam

I'm just paying her school fees to send her to a good private school. It's about $1,200/year.

I actually made a lot of content from Tanzania last year, it was just featured on Instagram and not on YouTube.

I have big plans for the content this year coming up, which should be on YouTube more (big things about to happen with my YouTube channel.)

Stay tuned.

Wow, so that sounds awesome. Giving support not only for the entire village (Btw. each well is in another village, or are they in the same spot?) but also to the child who needs it. I appreciate your attitude. :)

All right my bad, I don't follow you on Instagram. I should start doing so, but I'm not really into social media. No facebooks, no instagrams, no snapchats. I am scared that this will absorb me completely.

I hope so, many gamequitters waits for your videos on YT (you have over 5k subscribers on YT. That's a lot!)

I will stay tuned :)

#Day 2038 (Since I decided to quit)

[3/0 (Internet overused):(/X+3]

I should focus more on life around me. I spent about 4 hours on watching YouTube. I could spent 4 hours on studying instead. :(

I need to work more about that. You might wonder how the hell I have access to YouTube if I blocked almost entire Internet of every browser? I used my phone in which I didn't install BlockSite.

My bad for that, however I still didn't watch anything gaming-related. I just watched some standups and that's all. I could spent this time better, but I didn't. Well, my bad. However, today I'm gonna spend as much time with books as possible.

Yesterday I did 4,64 golden hours of studying. That's not as I supposed 8, but still it's pretty nice. Today I'm gonna beat up my record and study for at least 8 golden hours!

Some of the statistics for the exam:

  • 4 days of studying
  • 17,6 golden hours studied (4,4 on average daily)
  • 4 days left to the final exam

#Day 2039 (Since I decided to quit)

[0/0/N]

Yesterday I studied a bit, however today I neglected my habits. I did some studying only because I was forced to. However I screwed my morning routine - turned on computer and instead of writing down on GameQuitters I did so wrong - unlocking youtube was the biggest mistake. Here is the vicious cycle how I relapsed:

  1. Funny videos on YT for "The breaks time" on my phone (no BlockSite here) 2 days ago and yesterday.
  2. Willpower erosion - I decided to neglect my habits today
  3. Unlocking youtube for more funny video to procrastinate on bigger screen
  4. Watching stream for about 3 hours.
  5. Playing a games for about 1,5 hour.
  6. Now I am again here on GameQuitters. Back to the gamequitting. And to studying.

Some of the statistics for the exam:

  • 5 days of studying
  • 21,42 golden hours studied (4,284 on average daily)
  • 3 days left to the final exam

I have to pass this one!!! I have to study for it!

You may think that I pressed "like" button on your post so unfortunately. It was on a purpose because although you failed this one battle, you are not giving up and going strong to win this war!

Downs will always happen in many areas of our life, but it doesn't matter. What does matter, is your attitude and your action. You know the right way. Just keep going.

Greetings, Piotr.

Thank you. That means a lot for me. You're always a great support and a great friend :).

I'll fight with my attitude. I'll do it through right actions. I know how to be better person, so I just need to implement it into my life.

#Day 2040 (Since I decided to quit)

[1/1/N - this one will remain N despite the number]

I feel better right now. Although I had troubles with sleeping - it normally didn't happen, but I needed 2,5 hours to sleep. Probably because I drank 2 litres of cola during the day - I should cut down on this. Practices like this - creating an extreme insuline peak - makes me go on on the vicious cykle of the addiction. I should be more aware of this and add this to the first point of my vicious cycle.

Some of the statistics for the exam:

  • 6 days of studying
  • 25,2 golden hours studied (4,2 on average daily)
  • 2 days left to the final exam

I have to pass this one!!! I have to study for it!

Well, couple of days passed. I'm still making my best through the video games detox.

I feel like I need someone for support. We'll see about that.

I see also what I'll lose if I choose gaming over other activities. Same with procrastination on Internet - in broader specrum someone will suffer due to that.

That's it, I hope tomorrow will be great day.

I don't have anything more to say. I just have to keep going right not. I feel exhausted not only by the effort I have to do to survive, but mostly by the effort I have to make to abstain from video games and even more - Internet.

Remember that the most important thing, is to break that vicious cycle, whenever you fall into something bad like gaming or internet overusage. Just write here or call your accountability, it really helps to get back on track.
