info Link list

Recommended Posts

Hello,
to fill this section a bit I decided to give you a nice collection of links which will cover various topics.
The list will be updated continually when I'll find links/sites/whatever which fits into here.

Currently it is just a thrown together link list, in the future I will separate it even more as it grows.

We will have blogs, more Youtube links, Communities, News sites, etc.
I also have a personal library worth of 450GB filled with courses and eBooks. I just need to sort them and need to look which I can upload since some of them are paid.

If you found a link and you think it fits into the list, let me know.

Courses:

Interactive Learning:

https://www.codecademy.com/ - I started to use codecademy years back but switched to reading books and other tutorials/how to's. Keep in mind that it teaches you the VERY basics only. Don't expect to be a pro after finishing some courses. It is still a good resource though.

Useful links about addictions

Are You Addicted?

Addiction is the repeated involvement with a substance or activity, despite the substantial harm it now causes, because that involvement was (and may continue to be) pleasurable and/or valuable.

1. Addiction includes both substances and activities (such as sex and gambling).
2. Addiction leads to substantial harm.
3. Addiction is repeated involvement despite substantial harm.
4. Addiction continues because it was, or is, pleasurable and/or valuable.

An addiction must meet at least 3 of the following criteria. This is based on the criteria of the American Psychiatric Association (DSM-IV) and World Health Organization (ICD-10):

  1. Tolerance. Do you use more alcohol or drugs over time?

  2. Withdrawal. Have you experienced physical or emotional withdrawal when you have stopped using? Have you experienced anxiety, irritability, shakes, sweats, nausea, or vomiting? Emotional withdrawal is just as significant as physical withdrawal.

  3. Limited control. Do you sometimes drink or use drugs more than you would like? Do you sometimes drink to get drunk? Does one drink lead to more drinks sometimes? Do you ever regret how much you used the day before?

  4. Negative consequences. Have you continued to use even though there have been negative consequences to your mood, self-esteem, health, job, or family?

  5. Neglected or postponed activities. Have you ever put off or reduced social, recreational, work, or household activities because of your use?

  6. Significant time or energy spent. Have you spent a significant amount of time obtaining, using, concealing, planning, or recovering from your use? Have you spent a lot of time thinking about using? Have you ever concealed or minimized your use? Have you ever thought of schemes to avoid getting caught?

  7. Desire to cut down. Have you sometimes thought about cutting down or controlling your use? Have you ever made unsuccessful attempts to cut down or control your use?
