Introducing myself

Featured Replies

Hi all, just introducing myself as a new game changer. I came across Cam many years ago when I first started realising the impact gaming was having on my life. Its cost me grades, university choices, and on at least one occasion my job. It’s also been a factor in failed relationships.

I didn’t buy the program before as I kidded myself that I could stop without actually changing any other parts of my life, but this time I’m serious. Looking forward to working with you all!

Hey maxhewitt!

Now that you’re serious about changing, what’s the first habit or area of life you want to focus on instead of gaming?

I’m asking because replacing gaming with something real was the hardest (and most important) part for me.

Sorry for missing this. I actually paid for counselling (£60 an hour for in person sessions every fortnight) to keep me accountable. I took up running (5k 3 days a week) and workout (another 3 days a week).

RE work, I changed jobs to one that needed me in office 5 days a week as I can’t trust myself to WFH.

I deleted every one of my gaming accounts.

I also made a spreadsheet and wrote “achieved” next to every date that I didn’t game.

finally, I made sure I was doing something either with friends, family, or chores every evening or weekend. This saw me catching up with old friends too.

I’ve stopped gaming for over four months now!

Seems quite helpful to me :)

What do you mean by "RE work" like changed work? What does "WHF" stand for?

Sounds like some progress. Although wow 60 quit an hour is quite the sum... I never did... Perhaps you could use the cheaper accountability option (A free one) here in the Daily Journals section? :D
