Day 102/180 GameQuitters/StopGaming

6 hours ago, reader said:

So happy to read about your goals. I read not long ago, that to bring the dopamine receptor sensivity to normal level takes up to 6 months. It is expected time for full "normalization" of the receptors. Do you feel less and less cravings for gaming ? My previous record oif not playing was 46 weeks, and I allow myself for acceptence thoughts - that I can control it. That thought lost me as 2,5y later im here again on detox. I will be following your journal to have more strenghts. Take care

Thanks @reader ! 46 weeks is incredible, I hope to reach that also! I know you can reach that again and even longer, just make sure to journal every day and it will really help stave off cravings knowing other people are with you on your journey.

Regarding the lesser cravings for games; I'd say so, yes. Sometimes I will watch videos of games as it can take my mind off the cravings/boredom to watch porno, so the cravings for games goes up a bit, but it's much easier not to play games than it is to watch the porno.

But yes I don't really have cravings to play games anymore. My resolve is stronger by the day!

Also I will say: Because I've played pretty much every game to ever exist (lol not really but it kinda feels like it) I have really bad burnout. And the only games I really enjoyed were live service games, but once you see the really bad and obviously FOMO mechanics they've added, it kind of disenfranchises you to the point you don't want to play them as they're too predatory.

Could I go back to single player games and enjoy them? Probably, as they're way less dopamine-frying than multiplayer games, but single player games have always been a catalyst back to the hard drug of multiplayer games, so therefore I actually can't play single player games as they ultimately lead back to multiplayer games. "Well I'm playing this single player game, why can't I just play a bit of a multiplayer game too?" Happens every time 🙈😂

As a side note about my sleep streak; there IS something that can affect it; napping in the day! I did actually take a 2 hour nap earlier so it might crap my schedule up a little bit, sadly, but as long as I continue to correct it immediately, it'll be fine.

See you ALL at the T.O.P! 🛡🛡🛡🛡

Day 104/180 GameQuitters/StopGaming

Okay guys, it's time to level up again.

Previously, I'd use gaming to reward myself for doing good in life, but I decided NAY! NO MORE! NO MORE VIDYA! And so I stopped, and have not played them for 104 days. Pretty good, right?

HOWEVER! 'However what?' I hear you ask: I needed something to replace gaming, and it had to be a fast reward that boosted dopamine. 'What was your reward of choice?' I hear you ask once again: FOOD!

NEIN NEIN NEIN

Now I'm heavier than I have been in YEARS!

But I said NAY! It's TIME to cut the bad food and exercise more. (Or just exercise more, as I'm not eating that bad, I'm just not working out enough)

My plan:

Workout on Thursday night, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If I do those, I can continue with my current diet and not have to change it and I'll be in solid shape.

Herein lies the next phase of my levelling up journey:

SHREDSTREAK! Okay maybe not 'ShredStreak', 'TrainStreak'? 'AestheticStreak'?

Okay 'Gym+DietStreak' it is!

See you ALL at the T.O.P! 🛡🛡🛡🛡

Day 105/180 GameQuitters/StopGaming

No Gaming is going really well,

My first day of Gym+DietStreak went well, I used to have a can of zero sugar drink per day but I'm cutting that down to once per week instead (and any social occasions). I'm also limiting my carbs. Workouts will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, as during the work week I'm too tired from working to be working out as well and I just have too many house chores to do.

SleepStreak: I'm sticking with 11:30pm bed time, takes me about 1 hour to get to sleep, then up around 8:45am BRIGHT AND EARLY!

PornFree: I'm starting to get quite horny now, I just want to bonk everything that moves! But I'm staying away from the porno.

NoAlcohol is very easy!

See y'all tomorrow!

Day 106/180 GameQuitters/StopGaming

So I won't work out on a Thursday as I'm too tired after work, but I will definitely do Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Gotta just feel stuff out, adjust etc.

Sleep I think I'm going to stick to 11:30pm bed time, seems to be the sweet spot.

PornFree and NoAlcohol going well.

See you all tomorrow!

Thank you @reader !

I'd say GameQuitters is the easiest, then NoAlcohol, then SleepStreak, then Gym+DietStreak, then PornFree.

I have to admit my Gym+DietStreak is tettering, I didn't workout today like I should have done, so I feel quite bad about that. I'm going to reset the streak.

SleepStreak I think on the weekends I want to be a bit more relaxed about going to bed dead-on 11:30pm.

PornFree is going okay, feeling horny at times but we carry on!

NoAlcohol is very easy.

I'm adding a PB next to each streak to be able to see what my best streak was, and try to beat it every time!

See Y'ALL tomorrow!

Awesome . I want to add pornfree commitment as well, just worrying that th act itself stays ... as this is just human nature . Also I noticed I'm dumbscroling free for 2w now . Thinking if add these too like you to my list of commitment .

Also I'm alcohol free for 4.5 y now but want addicted ( as maybe quoted in time tho ... :) )

Jsut saying the way @Pulse your journal is written is something I would like to do it as well . If it's ok with you

Yeah I do both NoFap and PornFree together but I think for most people the problem is the porno, so I'd suggest trying to cut the porno if you can.

Awesome congrats on 4.5 years AlcoholFree!

Yes please copy it, I've taken inspiration from other journals like @Yan 's, so yes take ideas from journals and add them to your own, no problem!

Not tons to report today, just ticking along. The Gym+DietStreak isn't going great, but that's okay, I just need to be patient with myself and it will kickstart eventually.

All other streaks going smoothly!

Day 111/180 GameQuitters/StopGaming

I'm almost about to match my Gym+DietStreak PB, so one more day to go to match it. The other streaks are coming along nicely. Gaming is a distant memory at this point, I even watch a couple of videos or streams of people playing and it just seems like so much effort nowadays to game.

Day 112/180 GameQuitters/StopGaming

Matched my Gym+DietStreak for 4 days! I know it's not a huge streak but at least I at least matched it so far! One more day and I get a PB! Let's go!

I will say I was contemplating maybe going back to drink for a little bit - but I convinced myself not to because I remember the crippling depression afterwards. That's the only real urge I've had for 46 days. Kinda crazy it just sort of pops out of nowhere. But we continue onward! I want to go further down the rabbit hole to see what lies there, rather than back to the predictable ways of gaming, not working out, not eating the best, watching tons of porn, drinking some alcohol, etc. It's all too predictable. Let's see what's on the other side instead!

To glory!

Hey @Pulse so nice to see so many commitments are going well! This helps me with mine. Appreciate you posting regularly - this is something I need to put some more effort into. I've been on the path of not drinking alcohol for more than 4y ago and I noticed only after a while that friends that I usually was hanging out with, where alcohol was always served, had less and less topics for discussion, they couldn't talk to me normally without alcohol. That resulted in these friendship to die naturally completely. So now I have 3 genuine friends that I know I can meet with, and there won’t even be any mentions of alcohol. I am wondering if you experience the same thing?

Thanks :) Yeah for me, even if most of them are just tiny check-ins, it does help a ton because it becomes a daily habit and before long it's engrained into the brain and it feels very weird not to make a journal entry. I'd definitely recommend it, even just to update your streak trackers.

Regarding the alcohol friends; they do drink alcohol which I'm fine with, and they're fine with me not drinking so it works out okay. But it probably makes it much easier if you have friends that don't drink at all!

Broke Gym+DietStreak again - man this is tough! The other streaks are going well though!

I did have a really big urge to drink today, not actually drink in the moment but I thought about the summer and how nice it is to drink some alcohol, etc. The issue is I can't concentrate at work, I feel depressed, etc. It's just not worth it! Stay the course, people!

Day 122/180 and 123/180 GameQuitters/StopGaming

See I've been bargaining with myself a little bit. 'Okay ONLY stick to single player games, no multiplayer games'. To be honest, I could probably do it and I'd stick to it. But the problem is; It would feel really weird. It's like there's a feeling that washes over you when you game, you can't quite describe it, but it's like a blanket, and that blanket over time causes you to feel a little numb all over, and gives you brain fog, but for some reason, when you take the blanket off, during the next few days, you think about that blanket a little bit. Then a little bit turns into a bit more, and you think more about the blanket than you did doing your work, your studies, your relationships etc.! Ridiculous!

I could absolutely play one single player game, for 1 hour, per week. But we ALL know it's not just that 1 hour. Your mind is playing that game the entire week, you just don't want to admit it.

So NO! No bargaining. NO VIDYA!

Until tomorrow!
