Got you now. I never used this term, but used browsing instead so I didnt immediately pick up on what you were saying. I actually took some beginner lessons in real surfing and it was great fun.

I steer clear from rock climbing because i got an injury from it and then repeatedly injured myself by trying to get back in the sport.

I had full recovery from screen addictions a few years ago until I got into work that was too stressful and this made me go back to watching stuff. Another thing that happened was that some memories related to the past work issues resurfaced and that somewhat knocked me down.

I rallied people not to give in to sadness on this forum and went a good two years without being sad or negative. As work problems mounted, I suddenly gave in to doubts. Doubts spiraled into stress. I realized it takes little to throw me off course even after i used a recovery plan by following some guides.

My work environment generally wasn't conducive to recovery.

I feel like work really took the kick out of life for me. It does suck becoming an adult and having to adult. But tbh it was our parents that made life a lot easier for us (or for my life at least, and probably a fair few other people's lives), life wasn't necessarily 'easy', it just felt it because we didn't have to do anything, our parents did it for us. Then as we get older we do it for our children, or just ourselves if we don't have children.

I mean there are pros and cons to every phase of life, but I think the best period of life is mid/late teens to early 20s, but then after that it just feels like grind, grind, grind, worry, worry, worry. There aren't quite as many happy moments where I feel genuinely happy. But you're right, it's important not to focus on the negative too much!

But I digress, vidya was kinda making it worse for me to feel happy, so I'm glad we're still grinding to stop playing them!

Attacking the negative with a wise plan is necessary to become happy. For gamers in their teens and twenties there were sophisticated entrapments in entertainment. I remember those confused faces during freshers year and beyond.

You have to feel genuinely happy whatever the stage in your life. When you fight back oppression, you become genuinely happy. Screen entertainment is one form of subversion and oppression.

the fact that the founder of this website fights a totalitarian entertainment system, speaks volumes. He found a way to be happy. Always remember and look for clever ways to punish the oppressors, because the oppressor may himself be saved by changing his world view.

Well done on staying porn free for 7 days. As for NoSurf, we all have our ups and downs. It doesn't mean you went back to square one, it might just be a minor lapse; not a relapse.

Day 53/90

Still going strong. I'm finding it difficult to think of topics of discussion at the moment, but when I do think of one I'll note it down and discuss it here. I think it's a good sign that games are permanently staying away for good, though. I do find myself watching a video here or there, but it feels like way too much effort to actually play a game. It feels way too much like a step in the wrong direction to actually play it - it feels wrong (because it is).

Thanks, and yes exactly. I actually completed NoFap (90 days and beyond) many years ago, and sure maybe once every few months I slip up nowadays but it's waaay more under control than it used to be - I hardly ever think about doing it.

PornFree is definitely harder because it's so readily accessible, and if you're bored it's that instant dopamine hit. Gotta always stay busy!

Thanks Yan :)

Unfortunately, I did look at some porno, weekends tend to be the toughest for that cause it's that boredom that strikes - I do have plenty of things to do to keep busy but sometimes I forgo them and the porno curse strikes again!

NoSurf kind of has to be reset with PornFree, sadly (as porno is a form of randomly surfing/doom scrolling), but we go agane!

StopGaming still going very strong, though, which is always good!

Maybe you could masturbate without porn, or use your gathering up sexual energy towards going out and meeting random girls on the street.
I mean, you need to find a use for this energy. It's not just going to disappear. And since it is the act of doomscrolling you're avoiding and not the masturbating per-se, solution number one may work. Or solution number 2 if you want to avoid masturbating. Then if you get some sex, you may allow yourself to ejaculate of course ;)

P.S. Don't know if you're in a relationship though... Just my surface suggestion without knowing all the details of your life ;)

So actually I don't have an issue with masturbation, it sounds maybe a little odd but I just enjoy looking at porn and I'm very good at not touching myself 😂😂 But yes the porn problem does still rear its head every weekend or so, it's a really tough one to quit.

I haven't masturbated in about 3-4 months. Haven't had sex in a couple of months either.

Also this is a little early in the day for me, so I'll add my journal for StopGaming/GameQuitters later, but I wanted to remind myself I'm also adding a counter for getting a better sleep pattern, as I've noticed I think you have one Yan, and maybe Allan and a couple of others, it's a great idea, it's really good to get up early as 'the early bird gets the first worm'! 😂😂

Day 59/90

One day off 2/3rds of the way home!

I've been slacking today, I'll be honest. Had a busy morning but then flunked off the rest of the day, but I needed to switch off. Haven't played any games, but have surfed a lot.

I'm calling my sleep pattern improvement: SleepStreak! Here's to day UNO!

2/3RDS OF THE WAY THERE! SO CLOSE!

I've been slacking again today, I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel okay within myself but I'm just struggling to get back to being disciplined. It sucks! I slept for 12 hours too! (but I had to get up real early yesterday, so I had to catch up on sleep). I did get to bed at a good time, though, so that's good.

Hopefully getting back into work during the week will chill me out again and I can re-focus.

See you ALL tomorrow & at the top!🛡🛡🛡

Day 62/90

So the sleep streak can really only apply if I become more disciplined in terms of getting up and working. The issue is if I don't get up and work, I think have to stay up late and work - so therefore my sleep schedule goes out of whack again. I need to fix the work discipline before I fix the sleep schedule.

GameQuitting/StopGaming still going strong.

Day 63/90

Still ticking along. Actually a friend recently bought a new game and I've discussed this before but I thought to myself 'That's for the people who are able to be disciplined in all other areas of their life, who are happy in their life - that's not for me, as there is work to be done', and I felt quite mature in that sense. So what we're doing feels right.

Until tomorrow!

Day 64/90

So today I actually checked out the gaming stream platform, I think there was some event on so some new games were announced. Saw a feature in a game I'd been semi-interested in and did get a slight twinge of wanting to check it out, but then you remember the reason you quit games like that in the first place. Sure it will feel fun maybe for the first day or two, but then it will get old and because it's a live service game it'll be the next carrot on the stick. All of that wasted time all for some stupid pixels.

It's not like I was all that social on video games either, I much preferred playing to my own schedule. Sure around COVID times it was more social because I had more time to play as I wasn't employed, but after I got a job I just played live service games alone (With guild and pugs but only being social when I had to).

If there was a legit reason to ever go back to video games I would, but I see absolutely no value to my life personally. All they do is take up time which sacrifices your quality of life outside of games. They make you think you're making progress, make you think you're being social, but let's be honest; if it's behind a screen, how social is it really?

That's my rant for the day. See you ALL at the very TOP of the mountain 🛡🛡🛡
