allanjchiang Posted May 20 Posted May 20 (edited) I was born in New Zealand and I want to quit video games because I want to find a girlfriend. My main goal now that I've quit is to work on my website. It's very basic and I procrastinated on it for the longest time because I just spent my time playing video games instead. Before I quit, I was spending 4 hours a day on video games and other entertainment. I suffer from treatment-resistant schizophrenia so without games, I didn't have any methods I knew to distract myself from the negative voices and hallucinations I experienced. Although I just quit, I feel more free already. However, from previous experiences of quitting, I know I will have a lot of catastrophizing negative thoughts after I quit gaming. This time might be different though because I have signed up for the Respawn Elite course. I have uploaded my RescueTime results from last week which show that I played video games for 19 hours. Wow. That sounds like a long time. Edited May 20 by allanjchiang
Enigma777 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Hi Allan. I'm new as well! Here's hoping that this time is different from the others. It's great that you are already thinking about projects you can pick up that you didn't have the time for before (due to gaming). I've been brainstorming some old projects today that I'm excited to begin working on again. Good luck with the Respawn program!

I still do read a lot in my spare time but I'm happy to say that I've quit games for 20 days now. I look forward to connecting with you in this brilliant community. 1
Enigma777 Posted June 8 Posted June 8 That's awesome, 20 days! I'm 16 days free from games, but 2 days into a 90-day ditigal detox (trying not to replace games with YouTube). Best of luck as you stick with it. See you around!
