Day 19: April 17th, 2022

Summary of the day:

Had some cravings for ac this morning, but successfully resisted it 🙂 However, I shifted my focus to Netflix again.

I had been thinking of a few possible reasons that lures me back into gaming: Boredom and holidays - for example today. That’s when withdrawal symptoms usually appear. I wasn’t able to plan through my day, my brain was shut down. My holiday mindset is - I don't want to go out, nor do I want to study or work. I admit that I’m a slacker during holidays. But as soon as school starts, my routine is back on track.

I know this might be stupid, but for now, the most important thing to deal with is what to do during holidays. I know some people have tremendous plans for holidays and always engage in fun activities other than gaming. But I’m not that energetic, and I spend almost every weekend at home.

Anyhow, now I’m going to sleep and wake up early tomorrow.

What I’m grateful/happy for:

Resisted the craving for games once again

I’m alive and healthy (a fire alarm went off near my house, and I saw an apartment filled with flames.. a few people were injured; also reminding myself to be careful)

Ate something delicious

Day 28: April 26th, 2022

Summary of the day:

- Woke up at 730 and planned my day

- Worked until lunch and rewarded myself with Netflix

- No cravings for video games, don’t even have the mood to do so

- Wasn’t in a great mood today. Originally I planned to study for 3 hours, but it ended up being only 2 or even less. It’s really difficult to focus for such a long period of time without being distracted.. Especially when my phone and computer are always by my side.. Oh no, it looks like I’m being lazy again. Everyone else is working hard and I shouldn’t be the one left behind.

- I will pick it back up tomorrow and it won’t be too harsh probably, as I may end up feeling overwhelmed again (just like today) and literally doing nothing

- My working mode hasn’t been turned back on yet.. It’s like waking up from a dream. And now, that pressure has returned and is ruthlessly crashing down on me - it’s school

- I also hate it when I compare myself with others - it’s all those kinds of doubts that I believe everyone must have encountered with. It always drives me crazy when I see others being so successful, or they have a better appearance than me. But I realized the more I compare myself with them, the more I get depressed and anxious. Why should I do this to myself? Of course I shouldn’t. Blaming myself and doing nothing isn’t bringing any good. So I looked it up on Google and came to a conclusion. I have to be myself. Everyone is unique and what I dislike about myself might also be the goal of others, and the only way to excel and earn respect, is to work hard. Lazy people like me are always seeking for some easier way, but it doesn’t even exist. I’m still finding my value in life and I still have a long way to go. I can’t say I want to strive for the best, but at least I don’t want to be the worst. I’m writing all these down here to create some motivation for myself, and remind myself in the future when I read this.

- I guess I’m heading for sleep early tonight

Day 30: April 28th, 2022

Summary of the day:

- Studied for 2 hours and played sports for 1.5 hours with my sister, and it was great tbh

- Made some progress in python today - imports and modules

- I have never took the initiative to learning something out of pure interest and without others’ interference; Learning python is the first new thing that I’ve learnt for one month continuously, out of my own interest and motivation

- Again, no cravings for video games today

- Just started watching Gintama

- I like being productive every day and I won’t give it up! It’s been ⅓ way through and now I reached my first milestone

- During this month, porn has not bothered me much since my struggles all came from the withdrawal symptoms of not gaming

- It feels like every day I’m making progress and I don’t feel blank anymore. These feelings are way more long-lasting than gluing myself on my chair playing video games all day. I don’t want to lose my progress and ignore my initial determination, so yes I’m going to continue on my detox. I believe I can do it and I will definitely do it.

Day 31: April 29th, 2022

Summary of the day:

Today was great. Woke up early in the morning and attended school until noon, then planned my rest of the day afterwards. I did schoolwork for around an hour, however, I barely studied today since my time was quite occupied today. Spent one and a half hour on sports and another hour volunteering. Went home late, after I'd eaten my dinner, it’s already half past nine, so I took a shower and went straight to sleep.

Skipped python today, but will continue tomorrow. Tomorrow will be another busy day.

Having a peaceful mind and no cravings for video games.

Today was average

- Slept quite late last night so I was so sleepy right after I woke up

- Had spanish in the morning, then had another course after lunch

- Spent rest of the day with my family

- No cravings for video games

Day 33: May 1st, 2022

Summary of the day:

I didn’t manage to wake up early today, so I ate brunch instead. It wasn’t a productive day as I consumed a lot of Youtube and anime.. Nothing much to write about today, but I’ll be back tomorrow. I didn’t have the slightest cravings for video games.

Goal for tomorrow: Be productive and plan my day.

Keep it up mate 🙂

A thing you mention in a lot of posts is that you need to plan your day to be productive but sometimes you dont do that in the mornings. Why dont you do that the evenings before? I think that would be a better approach.

23 hours ago, Lobares said:

Thanks! I will try this tonight 🙂

Summary of the day:

- Had some cravings for roblox today, so I immediately shut down my pc and left my room

- In February, I managed to stop roblox for a month by announcing it to my online gaming friends, and it worked quite well. But I soon went back to it. By the end of March, I realized I’ve been doing the same thing as last month, and that’s when I decided I had to stop again, then I found this forum

- So this is another month without gaming, and I’m also afraid of giving up again. But I know if I give up so early, I will be wasting my effort during this month. I guess I will continue, I don't want to lose this streak.

- Have to wake up super early tomorrow, sigh, sleeping early tonight

- Wrote down my todos for tmr, hopefully everything'll go as planned

- However, I spent an unexpected two hours outdoors just for shopping

- Wasn’t as productive as before, will try my best tomorrow

Day 36: May 4th, 2022

Summary of the day:

- Spent the morning at school, then focused on schoolwork and my studies for 4 hours in the afternoon, which gave me a lot more free time in the evening to watch some anime and read books (and I found out rewarding myself after working feels a lot better than directly going to the rewards - the days when I binge-watch yt or anime)

- Today was productive and really average; no special things happened today

- Not in such a great mood as I’ve caught a cold (Or is it even a cold? It’s very rare for me to keep sneezing for almost a week; And I don’t feel cold)

- Continued on my python learning

- I’m going to draft my to-dos for tomorrow now and probably fold my clothes later on

- No cravings for video games

Day 37: May 5th, 2022

Summary of the day:

- Comparing with yesterday, today was a lot better as I’m healthy again and I’m happy for what I’ve learnt at school - I really love biology

- Studied for two hours in the afternoon and learnt Spanish for another two hours till 6, then did a book analysis until dinner.

- After dinner, I allowed myself to watch some anime and scroll through social media (well, I still wasted a lot of time here, but my work is done so that’s alright for today; I might have to cut my screen time though) Then I read a book before I slept.

- My aim is to study on every weekday(at least) so that I can constantly remember what have been taught and I don’t have to cram before exams (I crammed and procrastinated a lot before and I only slept 3-4 hours on every exam day, even less than normal days - it was terrible and I certainly don’t want to experience that again)

Summary of the day:

- Stood up at 7:30 this morning so I could attend a course, however I was not as energetic as yesterday and I definitely needed a nap to recharge myself; Instead, I finished reading a book and read its analysis until lunch. - Still have a lot to improve on writing

- No cravings for video games, but I watched a lot of Netflix at night after working
