  1. Nice reading your journal. I tried to quit a few times in the past but kept relapsing. It's not unusual I don't think. Not sure what treatment you are getting for ADHD but I got an adderall prescription and didn't like it. The 5mg adderall pills and it made me feel motivated and better at concentration, but it made me unable to eat and still obsessed with games. Plus, I heard that you build tolerance to it. I stopped taking it after around 10 pills. That was about 3 years ago.
  2. Yeah I know what you mean. I always thought that I can play games in moderation. If it's the right game, a little bit of gaming will make me obsessed with the game for days. I have a theory that when we develop a habit of abusing something, we don't just forget the habit when we stop doing it. The only thing we can do is to learn new good habits and stay far away from damaging ones. Oh btw great job on quitting alcohol! Keep it up!
  3. Nice progress. Camping seems like a fun experience. Looking forward to your future updates.
  4. I found that trying to quit everything is easier to do than just trying to quit gaming, because one bad habit can trigger another. Looking forward to reading about how you are doing!
  5. Good job on doing something that's hard for you Dullage!
  6. I know what you mean about feeling lazy. I felt pretty lazy back in university, and I was only motivated by the fear of failing classes or dropping out.
  7. I work for my dad and he let me take a few days off doing projects to register to become a professional engineer. I find this to be quite challenging because it is a lot of technical writing and the stakes are kinda high. Just powering through it now. My goal for today is to work hard and become very focused. Good luck everyone! Edit: New daily: read and comment on 3 other journals or forum posts, but no more than 3. I have spent almost an hour browsing the forum today. 8. Good luck, I'm cheering for you!
  9. Not discouraged at all. Everyone stumbles. You have detoxed for more than 90 days which is quite inspiring for me. Thanks for the encouragement!
  10. I had insomnia the first week after quitting games, and once 2 weeks in as well. I tried writing down the thoughts that's keeping awake, which helped. But then again, your insomnia is probably different than mine.. Maybe a sleep mask will help? https://www.amazon.com/Bedtime-Bliss®-Contoured-Comfortable-Moldex®/dp/B00FJQFJX8/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1467737793&sr=1-1&keywords=night+mask
  11. Hey Viking. Welcome, good luck!

Edit: Nvm internet browsing and mindless news reading 2 hours combined today. I am working on my application form registering to be a professional engineer and it looks like I will need to write about 10 000 words to adequately answer all the questions in the form. By far the longest writing that I will ever finish - this feels overwhelming but I just got to take it 1 bit at a time. Was learning Chinese since Sunday. At around 20 characters now. Goal is to learn a little bit of Chinese before bedtime every night. Started reading The Slight Edge today by Jeff Olson. Will comment about it when I finish the book.
  13. I'm writing down this quote.
  14. The forum and the Respawn program was super helpful. Removing damaging habits such as playing video games and adding worthwhile habits have increased my productivity and quality of life. Plus, I found that my average sleep time has decreased and I am feeling more motivated and awake during the day. 16. Thanks for sharing. I make too many excuses instead of committing to solving things. We are all different people and that's why we can learn from eachother

  19. I've read the first portion of that book as well. Would recommend
  20. If you have more damaging addictions than LiS right now, then I can understand why you would prioritize staying away from those. Good luck!

I went hiking with a group of new friends and my gf yesterday. It was a 7 hour hike and I know I was challenged because I am so tired that I can barely walk now. I learned not to argue with my girlfriend or anyone in public yesterday (I'm new to social interactions so I actually don't know these things). Today my main goal will be to develop my focus on work and studying.
