    Jon's Journal

I think a big issue, when trying to let go of gaming, is that we focus too much on what we don't want. To illustrate, lets say you want to give up smoking, if you continuously say to yourself something like "don't smoke", "cigarettes are bad" or "I hate cigarettes", even thought we mean well, our brain still continuously receive the same negative input of the words "smoking" and "cigarettes". Instead, we can direct our focal point to something good like "eat healthy", "build a strong body" or something like that. Anyways, Jon, we win some we lose some. You need not feel disheartened just because you lost a streak or things aren't going your way. The path to change wont be easy. We will feel like the issues we face are insurmountable, there are times when we will lose the streaks, times we will fail on the promises we made to ourselves, times where we will perceive ourselves to be rotten flesh with no purpose. Life will keep knocking us down cause that's what life does best, and the best we can do is refuse to stay down. Even though we strive for it everyday, non of us are perfect. So don't be self critical. Learn from the mistakes you made and form those made by other, overcome the anguish that comes with losing, and just stay relentless.
  4. its been a while since you posted this. I hope that you are doing well. Just so you know, no one here wants to judge you in anyway. its a huge step that you decided that you want to change your life and get it all together, I congratulate you on that. The initial phase of change will come as a challenge, so hang in there bro. and if you want to share your progress or anything, feel comfortable sharing it here (^///^)
  5. hi. sounds like your having a tough time, but you have a firm intention in your mind that you want to stop gaming and really get your life together. I congratulate you for that cause majority of the people nowadays just let themselves go wherever their desires take. currently I have managed to push "gaming" away, which once was dictating my life. I hated myself for wasting my time and effort on something that will not help me in any way, something that came in between of my life and goals. it took me a while to finally be free from those urges to spend hours idling away in a virtual world that reaped no benefits, not only time, but after a lot of failed attempts like the one you mentioned above. I found myself in a lot of situations where I questioned myself and weather it was really possible to free myself from this monarch of a thing. the things I did was making a schedule. like I had a specific notebook that I used just for that. I would write down a schedule for a week. and try my best to follow through it. I also included working out minimum 2 days. This is really important for a guy who wants to get their life on track. I even included reading books. Some books I read are : 1. "Atomic Habits" by James Charles 2. "Compound Effect" by Darren hardy 3. "The Millionaire Fastlane" by M.J.Demarco. So yeah, I think these 3 things are enough initially to get started on getting yourself together : 1. Scheduling 2. Working out 3.Reading books. Also you can check out hamza on YouTube. The majority of the aforementioned point all came from his inspiration. He really helped me get started on improving myself. You can watch this video where he talks about quitting gaming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MybqsZUbPpo&t=1s all his other videos are also beneficial in helping develop mindset and the best habits to adopt etc. Goodluck! (^///^)
  6. also, forgot to mention. check out hamza on yt. he makes quality videos about quitting gaming and really getting our life on track. here is a video he made about stopping video games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MybqsZUbPpo this dude really helped me kick off.
  7. very nice. The journey initially may be a challenge, but eventually we will be able to eradicate this painintheass habit and form new better ones. A very good book I'd recommend is "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. It helped me a lot in this expedition to get my life together. Must read. Anyways, good luck! :)
