  1. Hello everyone! 2 days ago I stumbled upon r/StopGaming, and after reading many people's stories of getting over their gaming addictions and problems it caused them, I realised that I was also slowly falling down the pit of video games. I might not play as avidly as some other people out here, but being 13 and in school, it has been greatly affecting my life without me even knowing it. If you would like to read my full story of how I came to my senses and decided to do something about this issue, the post will be linked here. Anyway, yesterday I have prepared all my devices for today, the start of restricting to amount of gaming time I have. Luckily I have noticed this issue quite early on, so I think I can give this a try. But if it still doesn't help, after the first week I will go on a full 90 dopamine detox and cut anything video game related out of my life completely. For the first week, on weekdays I will allow myself to game for 2 hours, only outside of school hours and only when I have completed any extra homework I might have. On weekends, I will up it to 3 hours, and every week I will slowly decrease the amount of time to the point where I don’t feel the need to game anymore, and it goes back to being a small little hobby. I hope that during this time I can find joy and motivation in old hobbies and really take care of both my physical and mental health. I also want to rely less on gaming as a coping mechanism for my more negative feelings that I may be pushing aside, and confront them head on for once. Who knows, maybe sometime in the future, gaming will be only a minuscule part of my life that I only go to every once in a while. I hope that when I look back at this journal/diary in the future, I can be proud of myself for keeping this promise and find true happiness in my life. Also, for anyone else out there who is also struggling with a gaming addiction, I wish you the best of luck!
