  1. Would be interresting to se weather this actually really works. Actually the second one is an awesome idea. If you make the frame out of many triangles...
  2. Awesome, I am excited to hear about your experiences in some weeks. Glad your still here with us throught the phone. I still dont own a tv thou. Biggest waste of time when you do have access to the internet.
  3. Still no response. How about something anyone can afford 🙂 Just search resistance bands on amazon. I love this things. There are the "only band" forms and the "band and handle" which has different hooks so you can use a closed door to hang them in.
  4. That is the whole point of wasting time, in a meditating manner. For me, wasting time with media did not have the effect of feeling like "a bummer". However when I just sit there thinking about something without any form of electronics arround, I get motivated really fast and take action.
  5. There are different approaches: Do other activities like take a walk. The more easy the activity, the more it will help you to stop thinking about media. Set a time limit how long you are allowed to consume any sort of media a day (I set myselve 1 Hour once, slowly it was easier to turn off Movies even in the middle, until I did not watch any media for a while). Try mediation i. e. nothing electronic to reach for x amount of minutes. Do you watch nonsense media or real educational videos? Becouse there are tons of educationional videos for any topic at youtube (gardening, music, crafting, camping, you name it), for free. I think it's the better wikipedia (becouse you can listen to it while doing other stuff). It's sad that the most dump videos got the most clicks. But I would consider still doing a time limit on that. Becouse all the theory in the world is not as good as practice. Maybe those videos help you to find your next hobby. If you really want to learn something new however, there is nothing better than a good book. Try visit a library or a book store(they sometimes allow you to read for free).
  6. Every minute you debate, your not taking action. Debating is an excuse to waste time. Or the Yoda way: Do it or do it not, don't try. That is why you fail.
  7. Interresting question. I thought alot about it. It almost always depends on your own playstyle habbits i'd say. But for most of the people this is the problem (major problem for me): If you find a really awesome community to play a game it is indefinitely harder for me to leave a game, compared than playing a singleplayer game. So I say, yes they are if your a social person. If not, singleplayer is more addictive. But statistics show, the majority does play singleplayer for entertaining purpose. Few people really sink tons of time into a singleplayer game compared to multiplayer games. Lookup steam statistics, really interresting. Shure, I know some singleplayer games I was completely addicted to. But after a while they where not that interresting anymore. That correlates to the statistics, where more than 80ish percent of people play arround 2 hour a day min. Compared to singleplayer where it's only arround 20%. Just browse throught the comments of this for example: https://store.steampowered.com/app/292030/The_Witcher_3_Wild_Hunt/ Where you see the ingame time of people. Also the impact of an singleplayer addiction is propably not that hard as an addiction to multiplayer games. For me nowadays: SP > MP Becouse: Singleplayer does not Involve (gaming) work for other people to be respected. I wrote this more in depth here:
  8. I sold all my computer stuff when starting my evening schools. I even did not own a mobile phone back in the mid-late 2000s. It was an awesome experience. At first it was really uggly, since I did not knew what to do with myselve at the beginning, (ok I had an 18 hour day or so, so not much more to do in your free time anyway) but after a while I got the enjoyment of little things. Like going for a walk and even having conversations with people. It felt so different. I started doing sports and got to know a bunch of cool people. I would always anytime recommend this 10/10 to everyone. Life is too short to not to try everything. I did it becouse I completely had enough of computers and media. I wanted to try something different. The world will open up so much, when you learn what megatons of jobs there are who can earn you good money that do not involve computers. That said, check the direction your willing to go and decide how much time you have at your disposal to dump everything. Heck you even get to know real computer artists without typing one single word into a computer. Every major supermarked has black boards for example, or allows to clip notes somewhere. I once got to know cool people within a coffee shop. Just by visiting each day. People recognized me after a while. No, you really do not need a PC on your own, if you work in the IT. If you have standby times and such your company usually buys you one. If thats not the case, you sell yourselve wrongly. Using your corporate computer for private stuff is a major security risk btw. Videogames are the most insecure programms anyway.
  9. It was the best reward, when I met my friends again. Or when I got my GF. Having people in your life who you can share things with is the biggest reward for me. For me (I noticed that after quitting games) people within the internet are not real friends.
  10. DISCLAIMER: If possible I would see a doctor about this. I am no Doctor so this method should not be an medical advice. Being tired is a chemical response from your body. Maybe you eat the wrong stuff maybe you power yourselve out to much. Maybe read about different methods, and check wether the tiredness goes away. Maybe it's better if you get on medication, I really can't tell. It can be a burnout syndrom etc. in my days when I quit gaming I did evening school and had an 18 hour day for 6 years. I was tired when I got up and tired when I did go to bed. How I was able to beat this? With taking time for me and sports. I also completely changed my eating habbits. I just took a seat for arround 5 hours doing nothing. Some sort of meditation but it helped. No music no nothing but just me, thinking. After a while I go out while "meditating", watching people at the street doing their thing. Today this problem is gone. I still take the meditation time each day. Not that long than in the past thou. Sleeping 12 hours straight is really unhealthy by the way. There are studies showing your chance of getting a heart disease rises by arround 30%. Do not have the exact numbers in my head thou.
  11. So now, that we organized our private time, which is important for doing quality work (your less effective if your at work and think about your private time, what you have to do etc) we can take a deeper look in organizing the 8 Hour work time. If your new to work I start writing a Daylie yournal what work I was given, and what topics I worked at. This is important for me, since I almost always forget something I was tasked to do. I write those tasks like "Sorting aa, Fixed xy with using xx" those are all one sentenced things, I write down after leaving arround 5 pages blank. If I forget an important task once, I create a note within my notebook (a small book I can carry arround in my pocket). Tasks like that are written onto the second empty page who are left empty. Now to more complex tasks: Those are written within a single Text file (using editor on windows) or if your a construction worker (what I worked myselve at for some time) you can put into a college block. I tried using electronic orgnaisation (with exception to the simple Text editor) but nothing was efficient for me. Also battery is always a problem if your on the go. So it never went good when organizing with electronics for me. Those small Pocket books mostly do also have a Calendar at the first page. So I write a legend with one Letter which is defined on the first blank page. Like "P ... Watering Plants". Then I put a P into the calender so I know I have to water Plants that day. Each week, I will go throught the Diary of Tasks I worked on, think about if I understood it and weather I have more questions on that task. I use one Sign method I learned in university to make clear what Tasks I have what problem with (there is a term for this method, but I forgot it, lol). For example "Doing xx ?" The ? means I have addition questions about that task, I am not able to fullfill it on my own or I do not understand it at all. - Asking for the result you get out of that task mostly helps "Doing stuff xy !" This task was understood but it is important to learn it, since I have to repeat it more often. Also I have to find alternative ways for it etc. - This will be put in my notebook for example "Get this yy ," , means I take to long fullfilling the task "Made this bb ." . means the task was given to me but I did not do it yet checkmark task done and does not need more thinking about it
  12. First I planned what to do: 8Hours Work + 8 Hours Sleep + 1,5 Hours average drive time for work. Now I need to Eat/Clean up myselve. That's another 1,5 Hours of time I need. Keep in Mind that the 1,5 Hours cleaning + eating also has the time planned in for doing taxes or all other household organisations inserted. If you start planning your time that way you should propably add another 30 minutes to the Household+eating time block. Since there is more to do at the start. For usual. For example: I moved to work so often and forgot to turn out the Heater. So I created a Plan and bought some Magnets to check all the things each morning to turn off/close or clean up, before leaving. There are things like "Turn off lights/Turn off heaters/Turn off soldering irons/close windows etc. on it. If I checked something i just put a magnet on top of the point i checked. Checkin things without this took me 30 minutes each day. With this plan it takes arround 5 minutes. Finally those where the "Need to do each day" activities. So: That makes me have another 5 Hours of real free time. This is the time I can Spend for the stuff I really want to do. This is my real free time since I do not "have to do" activities within it. It is also a good idea for some people to plan less time for new NEEDED/FORCED activities (like cleaning, doing taxes etc). Becouse the needed stuff is hard and it's always a good idea for me to take a break. Becouse i get bored fast out of such activities. I was never the guy who was able to sit down 5 Hours straight on something like sorting papers (the things who are considered normal in our society, unless you found something which is really fun for you of course) I always stated with 10 min sorting, taking a break. After a while I was able to finish the sorting paper task straight. That becouse you train yourselve routine. So I started a private project for repairing stuff.I started to plan 2 Hour of work each day for that project. Slowly increasing it after a while. So that reduced my real free time to 3 Hours. Always addapting this plan and shifting hours arround. Currently I have arround 1 Hour of real free time left. I usually use this time for sports or meditation etc. reading books whatever
  13. I feel more focused when talking to people in a face to face conversation. My empathy did rise. I do things more slowly and concentrated overall, so my quality in doing things improved. Reading improved too. Enjoying things is easier (especially the small things in live). I am not tired over the day (even with less sleep). The list could go on ... ? There was a conversation about this topic a while ago. You should search the forums for it. People also posted in depth scientifical answeres there. Sadly I do not find the one topic right out of the box. It has to do with your brain constantly working in "High power mode" when gaming + dopamine release. Thats one reason for better rest and more energy when you need it. Like, with gaming you run a marathon each day. Without it, you can do a sprint when you want it.
  14. The addict has other importent things to do, like cleaning up the room, doing his taxes etc. but will instead sit down gaming. Someone just wanting to play has a balanced life and can spend his/her free time for what he/she wants. There is a saying here where I live: First the work then the delight.
  15. I would do pushups while she is playing league. And when I run arround like Arnold Swarzenegger She will see the benefit. Also sport keeps you calm and healthy. While doing sports you also do not think about the negative things in life that often, you try to turn them to good.
  16. Hello Everyone, first of all I want to thank everyone in this community for your support and your text. You guys reall took me forward being a more normal guy, who can enjoy different aspect of life. You made me understand stuff and made me a better person than I was last year. I wish everyone a happy 2020, that you find your true self next year and have a great new years eve. Also I hope your reach your goals and find your purpose in life. And to the ones who do not find someone to go out today and feel bad about it: Just go in front of the door, meet your neighbours enjoy beeing arround people. If you want at least
  17. Keep in Mind that this text reflects my own experiences. This text should not be generalized since there are also cool people arround in gaming communities or there are real assholes within a community you meet in real life. You always have the option to walk away or meet the people you like more. Regardless if they are online or offline. Enjoying a game is a general topic in gaming communities I'd say. And toxicity is a general problem with gaming communities. I did notice that myselve. In special what always bugged me with gaming comminities is that you are not that worth if you play less than other people. Or if your not that good than other people. Your whole social status is mostly determined by your skill and how much worth it is for the group. It mostly does not matter if your a nice guy or if you have other gifts who make the people within the gaming community more, say human, for example. I was in tons of gaming communities and the above was always a big problem for me. It was also the reason I quit games several times becouse I was not the guy "getting to addicted" over a game. So my progess was slow which always held the group of gamers back. The biggest difference I noticed was that in "reallife communities" it's not that difficult for people who do not have advantages (are not funny for example, are not rich etc) that make them better than someone else, to stay in a group and are not excluded that hard like in gaming communities. Becouse you find more people with simple expectations in real life with real life friends than gamer friends. Another difference I noticed is, that the respect for people is much lower in gaming communities. You get offended more often becouse it's only virtual I think. There is no real consequence being an asshole. Also the jokes are mostly dull. That was always a problem when I meet my real friends (who I still meet) who told me more than once to shut up already. Thats becouse you do have more will to change yourselve to fit in and find out that these changes make you also feel better. Compared to gaming communities where your own changes make you only the same like everyone else and do not give you a self improvement. Thats exactly what I noticed by myselve. But after a while I always think about "wasting time with gaming" so I quit, since the topic in all gaming communities is just... gaming. Or nerdtalk. Don't get me wrong. You can find nice people online who you love to interact with, but the general layer of activity is always the same. This is also something I noticed it may be a reason jokes are more simple within gaming communities. People tend to be "the crazy guy" more often and being clowns most of the time you talk to them. There is no real calming down here. This is one by product you learn when meeting real people. If your overreacting or talk endlessly you annoy people. In gaming it's the endles repititive dull tasks you force yourselve to do, until you get to the point where you have tasks that are demanding. Those tasks are the real bonds between groups. I met gaming communities where people meet in reallife, but those meetings where not the important aspects of their relation, they always talked about their gaming progression. I can always count on my real life friends. Never and really never met people in gaming communities who where willing to step back for one member of the group. Thats one major difference I noticed. I never had dull racsist or idiotic conversations with my real life friends, compared to gaming communities where it's the norm. Granted there are exceptions, but I look on the "general behaviour" you find in most gaming communities. Non of my reallife friends think they are the center of the universe. Almost all people in gaming communities think they are. And the major aspect: If I am out meeting real people, I can see positive effect for myselve. Even if I just drink a beer with someone and talk about dull stuff. Compared to the virtual alternative where your decisions and behaviour does not matter. And the final major difference is, if you try to be the normal guy within a gaming community, who priorizes friends or work, you get excluded hard.
  18. Always delete sell all your pc stuff. Done that myselve 10/10 would do it again. It makes you have such a different view about things. It's amazing. After you done that you can still get new tech ?
  19. First you should try to clarify what you really want. Just that only someone threw a defition at you does not mean thats really you. You sound like you do not know yourselve good enough and did therefore not find many alternatives for your PC consumption. Do you like to be introvert at the first place? I would answer that question myselve first. There is nothing bad about it, so don't make yourselve cheaper than you are. Some people would have less problems if the would be introvert. So there is always another extreme ? If you like the be the silent person there are Libraries, Hackspaces, Modeling Competitions etc. After all your not the only one who lives that way. Maybe try to find a hobby where you do not need to interact with people that much, for example bakery or cooking play some Instrument or Painting. Maybe you start to like your new hobby that much ,you will earn money out of it. Like I wrote in the other post of your, your Tech habbits sound like an addiction. Try to find somethin to enjoy and slowly learn to forget about Social media and Tech.
  20. Hello everyone, I recently thought about my gaming days. What I noticed was, that I really play those games where a good community was arround more frequently and also had more competitive thought with those games. Even if I could choose between different games, and the one I did like the least had the best community I would still continue to play that bad game. Do you have the same experiences? What are your game community stories? What is the biggest different to real life comminies you noticed in gaming communities? Did you notice a pattern of behaviour in gaming communities compared to real life communities?
  21. Everyone got to know that feeling sometime. It's the "if I am not connected I miss something". But everyone descibes it differently i suppose. Instead on participating in social media try to improve your skills in different areas. Clean your room, interact with your family. I think they care about you. Set yourselve small goals. After a while you get more proud of yourselve, you start to propably feel better and do not weight social media as much. If that does not work, delete your accounts after writing down your most important Phone numbers. Your descriptions sounds like an addiction. And addiction is a feeling which hinders you at thinking in normal ways. An addiction hinders you keeping a clear head. An addiction will dictate your life and therefore make you behave differently than the rest of people. It will be a hard start, but you will see it get's easier after a while.
  22. Did you ever try to talk about the stuff he does. Why he does play the games he like? In other words did you take an interest in what he does? Did you try to understand his motivations his problems and how he sees his part in the family? Ever took him out for a beer etc? Is he lonely, angry, does he feel useless or does he think about himself he is a looser? Do you spend time with your son? Maybe he does videos games to escape the family activities? I really need more information. EDIT: I do not know Facebook myself, so I have no idea weather people will see your post. This forum is also public, at least for the people who visit cam's site.
