  1. I started my detox on August 14, 2017. It's now August 15, 2019. It's been two years having quit video games and I haven't relapsed, and my life has changed so much. I find so much pleasure in learning new things, improving myself and learning new skills. I spend more time with other people, I am unrecognizable. This journey has been amazing, and I'm happy to continue to live like this. I haven't even been on game quitters for almost a year. Hope the community is doing well, hope people are finding new things in life. Eli
  2. Holy shit its October 13th. I havne't been on for two months. 365 + 61 is 426 days and counting :)
  3. Officially one year :))))))) AND ill just keep on swimming
  4. Today is day 363!!!!! ALMOST A YEAR
  5. Just checking in i've been doing a lot of work, and rest and break, games haven't been on my mind too much. Heres for the counter: Day 343, getting close to a year! Eli
  6. oof its been a hella long time. I've honestly been so busy with all this work its been so great! still going strong. Today is Day 327
  7. @dirkj3 spend time with friends! go out and talk with people and get to know other people in person better. Thats a fun way to replace games instead of porn/junk food. Things that are uncomfortable are just challenges to get through. It can feel depressing when things are hard, but instead of going to games or porn or tv or some sort of unhealthy thing, go relax by being with friends or doing something you enjoy (some sort of hobby besides games) :) Day 310! Eli
  8. its been a while. June 5th here, coming in at day 298! almost 300 :)
  9. @dirkj3any time man. :) day 281 Eli
  10. @dirkj3 Learning is learning. Pay attention in class, ask your teachers questions, ask your classmates questions, watch videos on youtube about the subject. Continue working on school. Maybe talk to your teacher about not covering everything last year and get some additional help? It never hurts even though it might seem embarrassing. Cramming is definitely not the right way to learn. Take it slow and steady, keep studying a good amount every day and try to catch up, but don't stress yourself out too much. WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO TACKLE SUGAR NOFAP YT GAMES all at the same time? ONE at a Time. Nobody has the energy for all of that. Take out sugar, combine games and nofap as internet and tell yourself that you will only use the computer for studying. Leave your phone outside of your bedroom, maybe place the charger in the living room so that you have to leave it there. The other activities are great! its still a lot of stuff, and personally I would just pursue one at a time, but if you like all of those things then keep it up! Meditating seems really good for you, so continue to meditate. BASICALLY don't do no sugar and instead of being on the computer or your phone watching youtube, games, or porn, go and practice all of those activities that you enjoy. Maybe find one you really like. :) It's been so long since I've posted, day 274, Eli
  11. Its Friday, day 252, just checking in Eli :)
  12. @dirkj3 just keep on going! talk to people about it too apart from me :) it'll help Day 247, Eli
  13. @dirkj3 A daily agenda is just writing in a notebook or planner what your goals are for the day, whether that be completing homework, not gaming for the day, or just sleeping an extra 2 hours. The best part is when you get to check all of them off! Procrastination is a completely different subject and I think everybody struggles with that (me included). Having a daily agenda and goals to complete each day will help you not procrastinate and get what you want to do done. Day 246, Eli :)
  14. @dirkj3 You are so right. I've accepted that I will never have full control without any issues with games. Even after 90 days, I know that if I start playing again, I will lose it. Half-assing something will change if you quit gaming and stick to it. You will have more time to do other things like school and if it turns you you're still half assing it then that just means school isn't the right path for you. Nothing about this is a piece of cake! Breaking addiction is one of the hardest things to do. You are completely right about having to keep reminding yourself of why you are doing this. Take a stand for once and say no to games. Day 242, Eli
  15. @dirkj3 GREAT START! keep on going you can do it! Deleting accounts help so much. From a google search, I found this: https://www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=892872247454107 and this: https://www.facebook.com/help/170585223002660 I'm sure you can delete a youtube account too, or just go to each and every channel and click unsubscribe. Make sure to get off of twitch if you use that as well, it's just as bad as gaming. Just take it one day at a time and you'll make it :) Day 239, Eli
  16. @dirkj3 It seems like you lapse because you don't have that much work to do or grades to keep up. First of all, find something else to do in that free/leisure/relax/break time you have (Cam has a huge list of cool stuff- I picked up magic, chess, and photography!). If you do relapse, honestly just play a ton for one day and get it out of your system. Tell yourself that you are going to play a lot in one day and then it'll be over. The best thing to do is fight your relapse, so prevent if from happening in the first place. This will make you stronger and help you the next time urges come up. Something else I do is watch Cam's videos on youtube. I find a lot of them speak directly to me, the things he says and talks about are all in my head, and the videos remind me to stop playing video games. I know it feels like fun when you are playing, and it is fun, but there are other things that are fun too and you should try some of those. Working out is hard but rewarding. Replace gaming with a different hobby so when you get bored or tired, you can go to that instead of games. Games may seem more exciting at the moment, but you just have to always keep in mind how even though games work for people who aren't addicted, people like us can't handle them very well. Keep me updated if you have more questions! :) Day 235, Eli
  17. @dirkj3 thats great news! I know it's so hard, but just take it one day at a time and you'll make it. And don't worry if it doesn't work out. It took me probably 10 or 11 tries before I finally said I was done with games and quit for good. Keep track of each day, journal and document each one, and you'll get there if you stick to it! Gaming addictions are serious and can ruin your life. Maybe after a week or two of keeping up your detox, you can reflect and see how your life has changed in just that short amount of time and how much more it can change and improve for the future. It's day 232 (sorry for not being on here for a while, I've been busy and also on vacation!) Eli
  18. Just checking back in, its day 220. Eli :)
  19. Sorry, I haven't been coming on GameQuitters too much lately, I've just been so busy. I'm doing well with the phone, using it for all its benefits and managing my time pretty well. It averages to about an hour of use when I have free time in my day, but a lot of days, I don't! Like today, I have 27min on the phone. It's honestly not distracting me in any way relating to games. Today is March 21st, day 216 Eli
  20. Today is the first day of me journaling having a smartphone 209 days into having quit gaming. My dad recommended that I write down thoughts about how much time I'm spending on it, whether or how much games are distracting me, and also the benefits it provides. I have an app called quality time, which monitors how much time you spend on your phone and where you spend it the most. I think average I spend 30-60min using the phone a day. Almost all this time is from Instagram, Whatsapp, and Messenger. I haven't been distracted by games on the phone at all really. I think now that I'm aware of my gaming problem I subconsciously stay away from any entertainment on my phone besides social apps. It's been really nice having a good camera so close by. I used the camera for a film project and also for a video audition already. Overall, I'm happy with the phone and my usage. It can be distracting, but I've turned all the notifications off and also I have a wallet case, so you don't see the screen and have to open the case to use the phone. All of these help, so I only check the phone when I really need to or when I have free time instead of the phone distracting me from my work. Day 209 Eli
  21. Today is day 207. I'm glad my story is out there, you did a really good job curating it to make sense haha! @Cam Adair It was something to get off my chest, kind of like a confession to me. It truly was difficult to remember all of those things I did that made me feel guilty. It was like I was in denial that they even happened! I hope sharing my story with the community helps everybody. @dirkj3 For me, the hardest time was the first few weeks. Once I got past two or three weeks, the rest was really not that bad! But take it day by day, get an organizer or calendar, and cross off every single day that you don't play games. And if you relapse, thats ok, but that just means you have to start over again. If the weekend is always the problem, then plan something with friends outside of the gaming world to do, or go out and take a walk if you're feeling the urge to game, or check out Cam's list of hobbies and stuff! I started photography, which has been really fun and challenging for me. The best advice I can give is the day by day thing. Just take some time each morning to tell yourself what you want to do today and why you don't want to game. A week will pass by if you are fully aware of your addiction and why you want to get rid of it.
  22. Today is monday, day 200! LETSS GOOO NEXT STOP: 250!
  23. Hey good job keep it up! Day 27 is almost at the one month mark. I know being at home with so much free time and easy access to gaming can be difficult, but push through it. Spend time with family or friends, sleep more, read more, like you said. This is a hard time in your detox but you can do it!
  24. Hey man, I read through a lot of your journal and gotta say theres already been a lot of change from day one to day 39. Keep it going and seems like you're finding good ways to replace gaming
