  1. Day 5 and Day 6 Accidentally missed yesterday. I was successful in staying game free these last 2 days and I want to continue to do what I'm doing. ?
  2. Day 4 It was another successful day. Did more coding and watched more tutorials. I almost did 2 flares today which I'm super excited about. I'm also working on my lotus yoga position. I plan on buying the course on how to draw as I think it ill be useful. Thats all.
  3. @@Peluconus Hey, I understand your concern and if it gets to that point I'll have to consider quitting it but I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing for now. One step at a time. ? Day 3 I haven't had much time to really focus on playing games which is a good thing. I finally decided to install python and get a pycharm IDE in my computer. This should help me out with the process of writing code at home which should keep me occupied. If I get bored with that I could turn to working on my bboying or try learning a little bit of C program. I want to eventually get codeblocks installed so I could play around with that as well. I'm also trying to look at some courses in edX that might be useful. I enrolled in a procrastination course that will hopefully help me get on track better. Anyway, life has been way better now compared to enslaving myself with a mindless game. Anyway, I hope to continue making my life more meaningful. ?
  4. @Franck the IT guy I see your point. Games can get very addicting but clash of clans isn't that kind of game FOR ME. I've gone months on end without playing COC without concern. It's also not much of a time waster. I'm on the game at most 20 minutes a day and when I'm on the game I'm doing something on the side like practicing my side splits or working on my lotus stretch. It helps give me something to engage in while I'm holding stretches. I've never spent a penny on any game. Emails don't bother me too much. I would say I'm lured in by my insecurity more than anything. Thank you for your advice though. Cheers ? Day 2 It was a good day. I got a lot done in learning programming in C. I still have to figure out a couple things but I hope everything is smooth sailing. I got to practice my flares a bit more which is good. They are looking pretty solid, and I might post a video soon to share the progress. Didn't even have time to really think about gaming since my day was so long. It's only day two, but I already feel a lot better about myself. 88 more days to go ?.
  5. @zeke365 Yep, one day and one game at a time. ?
  6. Day 1 It's the beginning of a long journey of 90 days without gaming. I've tried quitting before but I want to start again clean slate. For now, I want to just get rid of the game that takes up most of my time, League of Legends. I have started by uninstalling it from my browser. However, I am not quitting all games 100%. I do play mobile games like clash of clans but I don't see it as a huge investment of my time and I will continue to play it as long as it doesn't take too much out of my day. I have a job right now working 40 hours a week and I want to divert most of my attention towards that. My job involves lots of programming so I want to spend time at home learning that. Specifically, I want to learn python and C because that's what I do for my job. I also want to focus on artistic activities like bboying and drawing. For bboying, I want to get 2 flares by August and for drawing, I plan on buying a udemy course to get started. I also want to focus on bettering myself as a person by talking to more people. I am very shy, but my goal is to meet at least 1 new person every week and if that's too easy then I'll challenge myself a little more. Wish me luck guys. ?
  7. Hi I have decided to quit gaming for at least the 90 day detox. I tried to quit before unsuccessfully but now I feel that games have completely run my life and it's time for a change. After the 90 days detox, I will reassess my situation and decide what to do from there. Wish me luck!! Alan
  8. Day 6 I made it. I tried spending my day playing basketball and working out rather than mindlessly browsing the internet. I watched a couple videos about goal setting. I think I'm going to grab a notebook and just list some things off that I want to accomplish and then check them off as I go. Long term goals I can put over to the side and short term goals I can just check off when I finish. I hope tomorrow I can get myself up early so I can do more things.
  9. Day 4 and Day 5 Totally forgot to do yesterday's journal so I'm going to do it today. I worked more on my paper yesterday and also got to spend my time learning martial arts with other people. I survived Saturday without gaming. However, I felt the day was extremely unproductive. I just watched a bunch of YouTube videos and just kept wasting time. I hope tomorrow I can find a way to improve.
  10. Day 3 Its starting to get tough. My inner self is telling me to play but I am resisting. The weekend is coming up so if I can live through that I should be okay. Today, I tried to work more on my paper. I have about 1000 words and only need about 250 more. I hope I can finish it by tomorrow so that I can relax for next week. I haven't started meditating yet but I will as soon as I put myself in that gaming environment which will probably be this weekend.
  11. Thanks all you guys for making me think about my approach. I think what I'm going to try to do differently this time is to Jory all every single day even if I can only get out a single sentence. I think spending as much time as I can writing about my thoughts is probably the best strategy to employ. I'm also going to try and start meditating as soon as I enter the gaming environment which I hope will help with the cravings. Day 2 Today I was actually really busy and wouldn't have had time to game at all if I tried. I was really focused on getting a paper done that's due in about a week and I also went to a seminar on LinkedIn and started my LinkedIn profile. I also took a class online for the GRE. I got some good resources from that like vocabulary.com, quizlet, free rice.com and more to help me out with the vocab section. I also got the chance to exercise for half an hour which I'm going to try and prioritize everyday so that I can be physically fit. One weird thing that happened today is I was looking through my notifications for YouTube and found that MIT open courseware offers a course on How to win at Texas Holdem which is quite ironic given my gaming situation at the moment. I'll keep you posted about what happens next. Thank you for listening.
  12. @Skaliq it's actually my third try. Thanks for the encouragement. I really hope when they say third times the charm that that's actually true.
  13. Day 1 Alright, this is my official Day 1. I slacked off a bit and kept playing games unfortunately but now I'm for real. I'm quitting. I'm going to start meditating and hopefully I will learn to control myself around games. Today, I haven't felt the urge yet to play games and hopefully I won't get that urge as much in th is upcoming week.
  14. @Mettermrck Glad to see I'm not alone.
  15. Day 0 Alright, this is going to be a tough post because i failed and relapsed. Im gonna try not to take it too hard on myself because I feel like this is a learning experience. Maybe I just saw others play and got really excited. I noticed that it is really hard for me to control myself when I have that urge to play games. I hope some of you could relate. I have a few ideas of what I can do to control this urge but I want to know your guys thoughts. What do you guys do in the moment when you have that feeling to play games? I think this is one of the biggest barriers to quitting games that I am facing right now.
