Would it be possible to add the same badge (with the number of days/weeks without playing vg's) that we have on the subreddit here too?

This is something I'd love to add. I'm going to talk to a developer friend and see if we can get something made. The forum software doesn't have a native option for it. Will update in the next few days.

I've got a developer looking at this. Hoping to have it done soon.

I would also love to have this option!

It would help to give me the feeling of achievement that video games are so good at delivering.

Hi Cam, any news on this?

I'd also like to see this implemented. I know it is something that would motivate a lot of non gamers to continue being non gamers ^^ Some kind of reward?

Hi Cam, any news on this?

Developer had a delay with his other projects so hope to have it done here shortly once the Christmas season is over.

To be honest, I'm kind of hoping we don't have a badge like the reddit forum.

Even if we'll admit it or not, our subconscious will give higher value to those with a higher badge count.  But that's just my opinion.

That's funny, the higher counts in my opinion almost have lesser validity. I have to remind myself that they do understand where I'm coming from even if it's been a long time. I guess I'm okay either way, but I do have to go to my reddit account to see how many days it's been -_-

What do you guys think about having the counter only display if it's over 90 days? That means they would have completed their detox which is something worth knowing, but beyond that it doesn't matter as much?

I think that would be fair, because this will help support those people who didn't complete their detox (just like me :))

And also, this wouldn't be some kind of building status for people with the biggest number of days without gaming.

I personally don't find the Reddit streak counter very helpful. It's more stressful, and it's also a little counter-intuitive.

People who are dieting have "cheat days." We, of course, shouldn't have cheat days in the same sense, but we each (I think) allow ourselves a small exception here or there. The issue then becomes, do I reset my entire counter back to 1 just because of a minor slip-up?

I've heard a popular opinion over on /r/pornfree about this as well. Some people keep a calendar and put an X on days that they messed up. A month with fewer X's is a better month than one with a lot of them. It shows growth and avoids the "What the hell" issue, as in, "What the hell, I've already screwed up my counter, might as well binge for the rest of the day and start again tomorrow!"

As for a counter that displays over 90 days, that could kind of work to point out the more helpful people on the site. It could replace their "Veteran" flair with "Elder" or something. Then again, this almost comes off as gamification, which might not be conducive to the spirit of GQ, because it turns into trying to earn an Achievement.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm either going to have the counter be an automatic that only goes up to 90 days, something people can only display in their profile, or simply have a badge for those who have completed the 90 day detox (not necessarily not gaming at the time.) I'll play with it and see what feels right for the best of both worlds. I think a combination of a badge for completing the detox + a counter on your profile if you want to display it sounds good to me.
